Re: Decent staple gun

Thanks all. Most recent I've tried is a fairly pricey hand stapler from screwfix with the correct staples, which are about 3mm thick with an angled end. No good, the staples won't go much more than 1 mm into to the plastic. I've noticed that oems often use very slim hard 'wire' staples, presumably w...

Decent staple gun

Hi,

Has anyone got a recommendation for a staple gun that'll work on plastic seat bases?

I've got several staple guns, including a quite pricey one, and none of them are man enough, or perhaps it's just the staples that are too weak..

Any advice would be appreciated,

Olly

Z1000mk2 swingarm into gpz1100b

Hi,

I've got my eyes on a davida swingarm out of a z1000mk2 that I want to fit in a gpz1100b2. Will it drop straight in? If not, can it be easily made to fit?

Many thanks,

Olly

Re: Noisy Alternator

I had exactly the same buzzy noise on my old 750 uni ratbike. I ignored it for ages as it didn't seem terminal, I happened to investigate one day and it was that cable retainer that was distorted and vibrating. Sometimes the cables on pattern stators won't sit nicely and distort the cable retainer. ...

Re: Better brakes - options?

New pads can make quite a difference, and degreasing the discs after you wash the bike. It's always a good idea to make sure the stock kit is in good condition before judging whether or not its inadequate. Other than that, I noticed that the bolt hole spacing on my z1000a1 was probably the same as t...

Re: Camchain rivet link - z1000 A1

I've fitted several camchains using open links over the years. Fitting an endless one is safest if it's practical to do so, but it's a lot of extra work. I've closed the soft link successfully by positioning the open link on the exhaust sprocket, resting a lump hammer on the head and holding it hard...

Z1000a1 parts job lot

Hi all, Job lot of z1000a1 parts for sale, some new, some used. £350 collected. Includes a complete original exhaust system including mounts and heat shields in scruffy but solid, gas tight condition. It's had some very discreet patches done and a new link section fabricated. Needs further restorati...

Re: Voltage regulator

Definitely ditch the standard regulator in my opinion. 40+ years old and made to last 10, fried wiring and battery if it goes wrong and overcharges (which is usually how they fail). The Devil's work, get rid.

Re: Z1000 A1 Airbox Drain?

Are they threaded? If so I think there's supposed to be a knurled plastic drain knob thingy on each one. Not easy to find replacements tho.
