Z1A Headlight

Hello folks I’m still looking out for an original headlight for a Z1A. I just need the glass part not the rim or bowl, but if you have them as well that would be great. I don’t mind US or UK beam direction the bike never gets used at night. Thanks.

Re: Erratic indicators

99.9% of indicator problems are caused by bad earths, 0.1% are the relay. :D

Tyre Advice Please

Hello Guys (and girls).

The front tyre on the Z1A is getting a bit cracked and I think its about time I replaced it.

Its currently a Swallow but I would like a better match for the rear - Metzeler Perfect ME99 130/80 V18.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Re: Cylinders 1 & 3 hot header pipes discolouring

Sounds more like your points are incorrectly set for the coil shared by cylinders 1 and 3. If the gap is incorrectly set the advance can be way off and cause the over heating you're seeing. Use a dwell meter or multimeter if you have one or I just wire a spare lamp to the points. Most manuals give g...

Re: Reg/Rec Failure Symptoms

I had a similar problem - turned out the points were pitted to hell!

Cleaned them up with a bit of emery cloth and off we go.

Re: Z1A wiring problem

On the A4 both those lights are fed directly from the ignition switch brown wire which should not be live when the key is off. Are you using the 1A switch?
