Re: J ignition housing and cover plate

Two Wheeled Spares (DK) have got two on eBay, and there's half a dozen in Germany.

Where'd you come off?

Re: ELR Z1000R2 Blowing fuses

Mine had a short in the right hand handlebar switch, blew the fuse as soon as the ignition was turned on, by a process of elimination I disconnected the handlebar switch and it stopped blowing fuses.

(Then I looked at the rest of the wiring, realised it was full of old repairs, so I made a new one)

Re: Z1300 Turbo

How does that work with what looks like the standard airbox and carbs? There was a bloke in Clacton in 1990 who had a turbo'd Z1300, it also had a mono shock and chain drive conversion. It has carbs, but it has a plenum chamber that's made to look like the standard airbox. I'm told fitting a turbo ...

Apart from that did you notice any improvement in any areas, starting, pick up to full beans etc ??

In short no, I'm running Mikuni RS34 flat slides with 125 mains, the standard J tap flows enough fuel for these and doesn't leak.

Re: 38mm gsxr slingshot carbs on gpz11

Early GSXR750s had VM29SS flat slide carbs, Slingshots run flat slide CV carbs either 38s or 40s depending on model, they fit on Zs (they're a bit of a squeeze into the inlet rubbers) I think you'll need a Dynojet kit to make them run properly with pod filters, teapot GSX750s have 36mm flat slide CV...

Re: Fuel tap.

My Z1000J tap did the same as your CSR one, replaced it with a Pingle, which has given me a load more problems. I have been looking at a Pingel for my Z1000J, what other problems did you have? I am just looking at replacing as I have doubts over the efficency of the original tap. I've put new seals...

Pistons don't look like Uni ones, if the carbs are 33s they're worth £250

Re: ELR 1100 FOOTREST/EXHAUST HANGER QUERY

Bolt positions do look slightly different to the 1000J/R/1100B1/B2 bracket, you could buy a J bracket and paint it black and fit it, they're pretty common and someone on here will probably have one, I gave a pair to RobW as I had no use for them (he's using them btw)

Re: Horn bracket 1000R GPz B1 B2

I wonder is that only used on the Lawson too? The horn isn’t that different to most others, Because Kawasaki were slightly mental in the early 80s, there are several variations on the Z1000J and they've all got major differences that make little difference to the bike, you'd think a Z1000R would be...

Re: ELR Z1000R2

Is the choke stuck on? Anything else is going to be a carbs off job to check the main jets and also to make sure the air jets aren't blocked. Oil leak could be cured by retorqueing the head bolts (easy job) if not it's a head off job, which isn't difficult either, they're nice and easy to work on, t...
