Re: Speedo accuracy

Cable is new. Checked it seems good. There’s no physical join between the needle and the drive cable it’s moved by magnetic eddy currents so even if the cable sticks the needle should fall to zero. My reasoning is as the spring holds the needle back to give the right spring if it breaks or weakens t...

Re: Speedo accuracy

Been trying to get to the bottom of this one. The Speedo now also doesn’t return to 0 at a standstill. If I tap it it will return, also if it’s at 0 I can make it jump up to 10 mph and stick, bike static. Seems likely the springs gone west. The replacement cable is probably a coincidence Looks like ...

Speedo accuracy

Since replacing the Speedo cable my Speedo has gone from optimistic to ridiculous. As I accelerate it will shoot up to 100 indicated. If it was a wear issue I’d expect to be slow not fast.

Re: Brake squealing

Well, I have replaced the pads, the feeder pipes as one had started to leak, new lever ( old one had an oval hole) & new fluid. Short run, no squeak. Need a good ride out but been away for work.

Re: Speedo cable

Can the drive be fitted in more than one position? That’s the only variable I can think of. The forks a sitting in the correct position. I’ll stick some pics up at the weekend. Cable bends at about 80 degrees from horizontal Bike originally had calipers behind forks. I changed it back to standard tw...

Speedo cable

Just bought a new cable for my Z1a. At 33” it’s a tight fit. There is a small radius bend at the drive end which doesn’t look right This is the size I see as correct on several vendors. The one I replaced was 37”. Front end is std

Re: Longshot B25 / TR25 Starfire / Trophy frame forks ??

Guy I know has just restored a 250 trophy. Very pretty, probably very slow. He also has a BSA Gold Star in for repair. Not the classic the 70’s steer scrambler. Very purple.

Brake squealing

My front brakes squeal like a stuck pig. Tried copper slip to no avail pads are old but have life left. Maybe a change of pads to new ones would fix. Any thoughts?
