Re: The man on the hill likes it !

Love it. Took my daughter there many moons ago when she was young . She looked a bit confused so I asked what the problem was . " Dad " she said , " his willy is on upside down ." She's 36 now so probably knows a bit more.

Re: Cleaning Main & Pilot jets (Z1 )

Were the jets wet or dry? If you check them wet , ie fuel in 'em, they always appear half blocked . Give 'em a good blow through and see if it makes a difference.

Dyno run.

Hi all . My Mk 11 runs non standard exhaust and pod filters . I've upped the pilots and mains , tuned and fiddled , and the bike runs really well on the road . However , the truth is I am only guessing the settings. Plugs look ok but who knows if it could be even better. I'm dithering over a dyno ru...

Re: steering lock barrel

Thanks Philippe. I should have explained . It fits into a keyhole shaped tube welded on the frame headtube. I will post photos later. (or Mrs crossthread will , she understands these things)

steering lock barrel

My Rickmans PO lost the key and drilled out the steering lock barrel . It looks similar to a picture I get when I google z1 lock but I've never seen one in the flesh. (not in the ignition , this one goes in the frame) Anyone know what Rickmans used ?

Re: A quick smoke this morning.

I took my test on a plunger BSA Bantam . The kickstart fell off on the way to the test centre so when the examiner said "start your machine" I had to leg it down the road to bump it . Passed first time !!

Re: wow

Nice . I was a submariner but spent 2 days on the Ark as part of an exchange visit . It was a "see how the rest of the Navy lives" thing . I remember it as bloody big , I was lost for 2 days and glad to get back to what I knew. Happy days.

Re: Starting up from cold.

Thanks Guys . Every day is a school day . It still goes against the grain to rev the nuts off a cold engine though . I'm also learning how finicky these old girls are . With my old Brit stuff so long as the carb is actually attached to the engine , its got petrol , and the spark occurs somewhere aro...

So far so good . My starting procedure from cold goes , fuel on , a few seconds to fill carbs , choke on f...
