Re: Tail peice tray

Hi shavenone
I think you have a Z1000 A2, not a 25...
I don't have a spare tail piece tray but now the guys know which one you're looking for.
Good luck with the search.

Re: Z1B oil cooler

Hi Chris
if you change the original roller bearings in the headstock by tapered roller bearings you don't need a steering damper anymore and you can keep the oil cooler.

Re: Z1000ST ('79-E1) Restoration

Hi men! It’s time to move on with the engine. I could buy a cylinder head in Holland (thank you Piet!) and it received new valve stems (thank you Pieter!). The valves were checked and grinded, the clearance of the shims was adjusted before the head was mounted on the engine. I ordered new gaskets, o...

Re: Tail peice tray

Hi shavenone
for what bike? There's a difference between the tail piece tray of a Z1,a,b and a Z900A4,Z1000A1,A2 . Not only in shape but also the sticker is different!

Re: Z1000ST ('79-E1) Restoration

Hi men after one month it's about time to tell you about the progress I've made. After mounting all these smaller parts I received new piston rings. They come from Scheuerlein in Germany and are compatible with the original pistons. The cylinder bores were measured and turned out to be within specs ...

Re: Time to rebuild my old GPz

Hi GPZ592 when I look at the pictures of your painted engine I'm glad you took the right decision. Do it yourself, it can't be worse. And it won't be! I guess the company painted your engine parts at different times, using different badges of paint. When using a two component paint (paint and harden...

Re: Oil pump

Hi King of Kings it's situated between the oil pump and the cranckcase at the oil passage. It's a thick O-ring. It has productnumber 92055-048. You could also change the large O-ring (diameter 92 mm) between the cranckcase and the sump (92055-052) and even the one between the oil filter and the oil ...

Re: Oil pump

Hi King of Kings
remove the exhaust, drain the oil, remove the oil filter, remove the sump, remove the oil pump (3 bolts), clean it all out, use new gaskets and assemble again. Don't forget to put a new O-ring in when putting the oil pump back on. It could take a few hours, good luck!

Re: ST recommission

Hi Pete I can't give you any clues about rising or lowering the circlips on the needles, I have no experience with that. The only thing I can say: don't ride too long without air filters. I don't think the engine will run fine that way. About the HT leads: if there's a plastic cap on the coil where ...

Re: Z1 colours

Hi Ady nice and beautiful colours but not the correct lines, unfortunately because it must have taken a lot of time, effort and money to get those results. I'm sorry if I took your dream away, I didn't mean to do that, I only want to give you an honest answer. The most obvious "shortcomings&quo...

Hi Paul
what's wrong with the ones you have? Or don't you have a set?
If you don't have a set, you can buy new plates . They're available.

Re: Got another XS650

Hi men
my first bike was a XS650 . A very nice bike, to start with.
I had it a few years and swapped it in 1983 for a Z1000ST
I stil have a XS650 today in my collection.
