Re: Z1R Cylinder Head

Hi rpeters
is it a Z1R D1 or a Z1R D3 (MK2) head you're searching for?
The Z1R D1 head is the same as the one of a Z1000A1 or A2 , exept for the paint!
The Z1R D3 head is the same as the one from a Z1000ST or Z1000MK2, the paint is allso the same.

Re: zir tc project

Hi guys correct me if I'm wrong! I have been reading somewhere that Kawaski never produced a Z1R TC in their factory and that all the turbos were retro fitted on NEW bikes by the Turbo Cycle Corporation in California.. Kawasaki didn't gave any warranty on those bikes. Allthough they were, and still ...

Re: Re-assembly order of rings, pistons & studs

Hi Davy I 've looked it up in the service manual and there's no torque mentioned; I think it has to be more than 2,3 m/kg as that's the torque of the cylinderhead nuts. It is mentioned though that you must apply a non permanent locking agent. Oh yes, before I forget: there's a free download of the s...

Re: Carb Identification - KZ1000??

Hi guys
I think these are A2 carbs, look at the copper tube on the third carb body, it's ment to put the hose on for the vacuum fuel tap.

Hi csx355

I understand a bit of English but I don't know what you mean...I think it's a local expression and it means nice things, so thank you anyway. Perhaps one day I'll understand it...anyway you're welcome.

Re: Air Box Identification Please

Hi csx355 the air filter boxes are definitively not from a Z1000 A ! I have no idea from what kind of bike they are, I don't know if they are from a Kawasaki... You'll have to search an original airbox from a Z1000 but those are now made of "unobtanium" and very rare! Good luck with your s...

Re: Z1000A1 - Basket Case Build

Hi csx355 some pictures to help you Throttle cables: start by the one with the shortest elbow, this is the "opening" cable, screw it in the switch housing at the front. Make sure you have enough thread left over to turn the nut on. DSCN3184.JPG Turn the cable with the longer elbow in the r...

Re: Z1000A1 - Basket Case Build

Hi csx355 congratulations! She's alive and kicking! It's an exiting moment when you fire up an old bike you've worked on for the first time in many years! You did it! As far as the flashing light is concerned: I think you've changed the bulb holders in the idiot light holder if the second light from...

Re: Re-assembly order of rings, pistons & studs

Hi Kwackman I've restored a Z400J a few months ago. Just let me give you some advice. :gom Put the rings on the pistons, the opening of the top ring should point at the front, the opening of the second ring should point to the rear and the opening of the oil ring should point to the front. Put new c...
