A4 Shim Lapping ?
Anyone know if the stock shims are made of tool steel or simply case hardened? I have just 1 shim that needs about 0.03 - 0.05 mm lapped to bring it into spec so am thinking about some grinding paste on a piece of glass & lapping the underside.

Sounds like a brand worth avoiding, do you have the name?

Re: Stainless Steel Bolts - Ok or Not?
Why would it be a problem to use stainless on the camshaft bearing caps? Think he means there's no real advantage? Well, that for sure and as also noted above, the small possibility that SSteel bolts may not have the same tensile / work ratings as the original cam cap steel bolts. The high frequenc...

Re: Stainless Steel Bolts - Ok or Not?
Glad to see this post and the opinions about stainless bolts. In addition to the cam cover, I've also bought stainless cap nuts, washers & studding for the exhaust. The only place I can think of that might be a problem to use stainless is the camshaft bearing caps, but they're pretty well protec...

Re: Z900 rear brake light (outage) switch
Mine was on the rear bolt of the RH coil, it will also fit on the rear bolt of the LH coil.
It does not look as neat there, but it does stay out of the way.

Re: Z900 rear brake light (outage) switch
The bracket hangs under the RH coil mounting bolt on mine & gets in the way when you take the cam cover off. Let me know if you'd like a picture of the bracket?

I need to touch up a couple of paint chips and wondered if anyone has found a close rattle can match for Diamond Brown (or is that Diamond Red)?
Thanks

Got Some! Looking for a pair of new A4 caliper pistons - pref SSteel
Thanks, for the link.
There's also some on eBay from Powerhouse, but wondered if anyone has some going spare that they'd like to sell.
OK, I've bought some now. It was a bit of a long shot in any case.
Thanks for looking.

Looking for a pair of new A4 caliper pistons - pref SSteel
Does anyone have a single, or better, 2 caliper pistons for a Z900 A4? I've been in touch with Rozzer, but I think his is for a Z1 which is a shorter piston than the A4.
Thanks
Thanks
