Touch-up paints

Does anyone remember those holts touch-up paints? Kinda tubes with a built-in brush. I've managed to take a chip out of the top of my tank, and wondered if there's a match / known code for the Z900A4 bottle green. I figured it was quite a common colour, so just wondered if anyone knew of something I...

Aftermarket ignition systems

Hi All I initially wanted to keep my Z900 A4 as original as possible, however it seems that you can't buy points that have a hard enough heel to last more than a few hundred miles. I bought what I believed to be genuine Kawasaki points, but after 500 miles, they're pretty closed up, and need constan...

Z900A4 Snapped chain - Casing damage

Sooo - just after finishing my restoration (the chain looked new as do the sprockets!) on a little ride out for my, er "essential groceries" - I have a snapped chain. as you might expect, there's damage to the inner casing around the front sprocket. The top section of this casting has been...

Re: DOHC infill

I used a toothbrush and some Jif to clean up the area first, then used a strip of masking tape that goes over the outer groove, covering the entire elongated rectangle above the "DOHC" logo. I masked off the rest of the cover, and used my fingernail to break the masking tape, until I could...

Honestly, I don't think I've ever been that dopey in my life. Obviously I gave myself quite a stern talking to.

Re: 900A4 Carburation question

So - erm....I finally got to the bottom of this one - I'd managed to top the tank up with bloody DIESEL (maybe 3-4 litres). First time in 50 years I've done it. Carbs off, everything cleaned again, flush tank, re-assemble, and Ping! Running like a beauty. What an utter nob I've been..

900A4 Carburation question

Chaps I'm 95% there with my A4 project; she's been running 10 times better since a good friend re-did the ignition, and I've loved riding it around and feeling that joy! Carburation seemed absolutely fine, no fluffing, clean-revving throughout the range, etc, however, one issue is still the mixture;...

Re: Hiya from Bournemouth

Paul, yeah, that's me - nice to meet you yesterday :-) It's still running badly, but re-doing the points has helped a lot, and the flat-spot's not half as bad as it was, plus it starts on the button too, so we're getting there. Now I have a jerky misfire from 1,000 up to 4,000, but only under light ...

Hi Paul - good to meet you yesterday at work. I'm in touch with Adrian too, so the three of us should have a little meet-up sometime.

Re: Hiya from Bournemouth

So... it seems that I have a Z1A/B airbox which probably isn't helping the carburation. Z-Power don't stock a 900-A4 airbox for some reason, so I'm now in the position of needing one, and I guess a nice Z1A/B airbox for sale if I manage to find one. eBay's not showing any for sale, so does anyone kn...

Re: Hiya from Bournemouth

Thanks everyone - Adrian, thanks for the offer - At the moment Frank from DynoMite is having a fettle with the carbs, as he's old skool, and has always been a star performer when troubleshooting; if he can't sort it, I'll try the guys in Ringwood you suggested.
