8 months of Z1 ownership,
Well I've had the Z1 now for 8 months, loving it, I paid far too much for it but still glad I did it, it's been out most sunny weekends and I'm comfortable riding it now , as it's my first bike and been used to lambretta's most of my life,so a massive difference, had the usual teething problems afte...

rear wheel removal
Hi,
I was having a look around my Z1 at the weekend, and just wondered in the future if I ever needed new rear tyres or shoes, would the full 4 into 4 exhausts have to come off to take the rear wheel out, or will it just come out when everythings undone,
it's a 1973 z1 standard 4 into 4,

Re: 1973 Z1
Thanks again for all the comments , The problem turned out to be a blocked fuel tap, Rob , who lives a few miles away offered to take a look, The tap was removed, stripped, cleaned and replaced, good as new, Massive thanks to Rob, not only for the repair, but for a look round his workshop !!!, and h...
Re: 1973 Z1
my worry is that 'the bike specialists' sell top bikes but are not specialists on the Z1, and might just have a ducati or suzuki tap in their stock and lob that on, so I'll take a 5 mile trip to see Rob first, if it's a few quid I can live with that, it's actually not a worry to me I'll just make su...
Re: 1973 Z1
Hi,
the bike specialists could not have been more helpful, and offered to pick the bike up, fix it, then drop it off, as it's under warranty,
if it's an easy fix, I'll do it locally, if not it'll go back,

Re: 1973 Z1
thanks everybody for your advice, Yes Steve it is a black repo tap, I've taken Robs kind offer (above) to have a look as he's just up the road,
I'm still tip-toeing around on it at the moment as I'm a novice on motorbikes, (it took me 4 days to get the knack of putting it on the main stand !!!!!)

Re: 1973 Z1
I put 5 litre in when the bike arrived, (read the hand book that said the reserve was at 4 litre), went to the petrol station after a run and put another 5 litre in,
maybe I should fill it right up,

Hi, I've just bought the candy yellow Z1 from 'the bike specialists', I've had chance to put a few miles on over the weekend and am really pleased with it, The only issue is the fuel tap, (there are 2 pipes coming from the tap, one goes to 2 carbs, the other pipe to the other 2 carbs) when in OFF po...
