NGK B8ES plugs

Went to purchase a new set of plugs for the Z1B. B8ES of course. What was given to me was BR8ES. I told the man I wanted B8ES and he said NGK quit making them and the R's are the replacement. I'm running Dyna S ignition with 3 ohm coils. Does anyone forsee any problems with these resistor sparkies? ...

Re: Z1 lower engine mounting plate

If you have the dimensions, find a fabricating shop that has a water jet cutter. Inexpensive and perfect. Rick

Re: Z1-B rebuild - carb renovation

Yes. I've done careful measuring of a 5J9 I removed from a bank of '75 carbs and the D3 position comes in at 2.36/.47mm, not 1.432mm. Buggers are a fit to measure, I'll tell ya. Anyway,Jetsrus does list the 5J9, so I assume it is available. ALSO, the 5J11 is 4mm shorter than the 9, so obviously not ...

Re: Z1-B rebuild - carb renovation

In answer to your original query, Here is a link to show exactly where the needles need to be measured to ensure they are in fact correct. Dial calipers would suffice, but a good micrometer would be best. Good riding, Rick

Re: Z1-B rebuild - carb renovation

5J is the needle, 9 is the lot number. This information comes courtesy the Kawi Z-series shop manual, just below the jetting chart. If in doubt, go to jetsrus.com and purchase Mikuni needles, the new lot number is 11 (or 5J11). I would do this anyway as you know they are correct. Not to kink your ca...

Points cover

Needing a (cleaner the better) early Z1B points cover, dated 49- 7,8 or 9. Day is unimportant. Cheers

Z1, H1, H2 rear rim

In need of a rear rim, Z1, H1, H2 will all work, date code 4H. A 303 is prefered, but will take a 305. Buy outright or trade- some Z1 ('74 carbs-clean and rebuilt), H1 parts available

Brake rotor date code

Just going through the Parts wanted page, and a member needs a disc. Checked my small stash and no luck. I've been in need of a Sep. '74 disc and noted That one I have is a 9 N. The N month doesn't exist. Obviously the letter is not a month indicator. Confusion x2. I've been looking for a 9 H. What ...

Anybody have a rusty, junked out shock? I'm in need of a top mount eye piece to replace a broken and welded one.
See the pic. Cheers, Rick

Re: Exhaust holder inserts

I installed what are supposed oem copper donut types sourced from...Ebay. Reason I asked is the holder is tight to the head and a good 6mm of stud exposed. I had used these composite type gaskets but they crushed unevenly, thus leaking. The system is a Vance & Hines. Any thicker gaskets out ther...

Exhaust holder inserts

Blast!! Finishing up my Z1B restoration, and cannot get the pipes properly sealed. I suspect the inserts are incorrect, as the holder is tight to the head. I've measured the inserts at 28mm overall. Correct or no? Cheers, Rick

Re: 1975 Z1 shocks

I've seen the 3 D stamp before in photos, but to be honest, I've never seen stamped shocks. Most long since changed out. Could be something funky like the brake rotor or an early supplier. Oh to get into KHI paperwork. Are any other Kaw models similarly date stamped? Rick
