Re: 900 Head casting difference
I'm no expert on later heads but it looks like your 1974 pic (TK-4) maybe has a Z1000 head fitted? Has a 8mm to 6mm stepped stud been used? No it's got 6mm studs however it had a few broken off studs and then was drilled out damaging the internal theads so it was repaired by having inserts installe...

Re: Dyna ignition
Yes I've had two fail of the past few years burnt out and melted. I've been told from a very well known racer and restorer (now retired) in these parts.. That this is common you get one's that go forever and you get one's that go fizz! I guess what do you expect from something made by Randy in Bum F...

Re: 900 Head casting difference
There are many slight variations on the Z1 heads. Picture here might help you. You can see it if you look carefully by the exhausts Super informative, my 1974 Z1A has an "4" my 1976 Z900A4 has an "5" but the 1975 Z1B has a "2" so definitely an early casting? All the bi...

900 Head casting difference
Hello, more of an interest point, does anyone know about casting differences between the 900's ? I have a 74 a 75 and a 76 all have original engines but I've noticed that the 75 has a difference in it's head casting than both the 76 and the 74. They all are original 900 heads with the 6mm exhaust st...

Haven't posted for a couple of weeks, engine is now back together and just waiting on the exhaust system which is stuck in customs...
Was hoping that it would be on the road before Christmas but early January is looking more like it.

Re: 1976 Z900
Been busy but have managed to get most of the bike back in one piece, just waiting on a few small bits and pieces. Found out that the gasket set i had didn't come with any 'O' rings so I'm waiting on those before putting the engine back together. With a bit of luck I'll get all the parts in a couple...
