Re: Mystery starting and running issue.

You mention that you have a boyer ignition. Worth checking that the magnets on the rotor are still strong. I have one here that will not give a reliable spark as the rotor has "demagnetized" http://vintagebikemagazine.com/technical-articles/boyer-trouble-shooting/ See the third or 4th imag...

Re: Z1100R running problem

Hi Dave have you got a carbtune to check your mixture? If not I have one you can borrow. PM me and I will pop it in the post. did the carbs you got from wired george improve things at low revs or make no difference? Is it possible that you have fouling caused by oil in the cylinder?. You could have ...

Re: Stalling and stuttering at motorway speeds.

Had a quick look at the wiring diagram for this model.
It shows a crank sensor.
I know this is probably the coil pickup
I work on cars and crank sensors are common for failing when hot.

Re: Stalling and stuttering at motorway speeds.

I know that you say not electrical but I had a similar problem when my alternator windings were giving up. Under load at dual carrageway speeds the alternator output could not supply enough amps to run the coils. Never had a problem getting it to start ,or rev at rest, but would not hold 70 for any ...

Re: advise on custom rim on rear hub

Now that is what I want.
What I end up with however may be a different story.

So far i have got 2 front wheels the previously mentioned 18x2.15 front (40 spoke) a 19x1.85 Kz1000M1(48 spoke) and the rear drum rim (36 spoke).
buying on a whim from ebay has a lot to answer for

Re: advise on custom rim on rear hub

Thanks all .
I will need to find some custom ss spokes then will call in a favour for a respoke.
Thinking about it I think the 3.5" rim will suit me fine.Dont need monster wide tyres.

Re: advise on custom rim on rear hub

Hi adrian. Two reasons for 17 inch wheel. First is I already have it :) and second I am a short arse and it means I can get my toes down without loss of suspension travel. My z1000st has the forks dropped by 35mm and shorter rear shocks . Bike is a drum model z650f3. I have a Zephyr arm I want to fi...

advise on custom rim on rear hub

Hi all I have a question about putting custom rims on my Z650. I have a front hub already laced with stainless spokes onto a 2.15x18 alloy rim. I purchased a , supposed, z650 rear wheel but when I got it it was 36 spokes. I suspect that this is a GS550 drum rear wheel. The spoke count is not a probl...
