Z1000ST gasket set
Hi everybody
Has anyone bought one of these NE "full" gasket sets for 1979 Z1000ST? If so are they any good? looks a good price but have no idea what the quality is like. I have to split the crank so need pretty much a full set

Thanks M

Re: KZ1000 St Front Mudguards / Fenders X 2
Hi JamesH
Probably a bit late and they are gone but have to ask? Restoring my old ST and the front mudguard knackered, still available?
Cheers M

Re: Z1000ST restore
thanks again Philippe for your advice. One question (again  ), so therefore do you actually need to remove the rotor bolt at all to split the crankcase? I keep going through the manual and though it is clear on some things I can't seem to work out what you do need to do or don't need to do to ...

Re: Z1000ST restore
Hi Philippe Thanks for that, had never considered a pneumatic wrench but after doing a bit of checking I can see that compressors can be hired or some are relatively cheap to buy (looks like I will need one when it comes to re-spraying so will do some more checking on that). Sorry to keep asking que...

Re: Z1000ST restore
Hi Everybody So, just looking ahead, been looking at what I need to do to split the crankcase while its too cold to do much, and I have a feeling this is probably a stupid question, but what is the score on getting hold of a clutch hub holder & flywheel holder?? Clutch hub holder I have seen adv...

Re: Z1000ST restore
Hi Philippe
Thanks for the info on splitting the crank with the M8 bolts. Have everything numbered for the bolts, pretty anal about such things, been caught out too many times in the past I will post again once I have progressed
Cheers M

Re: ST recommission
:) Just remembering, but being near Birmingham most of my old bike mates worked in engineering. A couple worked for Hardy Spicer who made drive shafts for the car industry, I seem to remember them saying that the bearings in the UJ's are all sealed units so therefore no lubrication. Don't take this ...

Re: Z1000ST restore
Hi Philippe Thanks for the advice, very much appreciated, all makes very good sense. Had never really thought about the potential difference between crankcase halves & how the crankcase mouldings are bored out. So I will start researching getting the crank fixed, I always thought that alloy cran...

thanks for the comments guys. moizeau - I will give that a go thanks Philippe, yes I do have the service manual & yes it is invaluable, getting a bit tatty now as I've had the manual since 1988 when I first got the ST :) I was going to put a new cam chain in as a matter of course, I thought I ha...

Z1000ST restore
Hi All So I posted as a newbie, see "another newbie here" with a brief history of me ST that I have had for 31 years or so. Been off the road & just standing in the garage for the last 20 years. Have now spent a month starting to strip it down. My original thought was that a bike shoul...
