Re: Z1r speedometer cable

Thanks for the reply. My bike does have a 19 inch Morris mag on the front but has all the original brakes and I think the speedo drive would be stock. That is the first issue as the new cable has a larger diameter where it screws on at the axle. I have the old cable and the housing can be used with ...

Z1r speedometer cable

I'm selling my 78 z1r and need to put a new speedo cable on it. I bought the bike in 1998 and know nothing of its history before that but it appears nearly completely stock parts.. I ordered a cable that was supposed to be for 78 z1r part number 54001 1015 but it has the wrong diameter threads to th...

Re: Factory fuel line routing on 73 Z1

That's what I'm looking for. Is there a problem with crimping in the 1,2 carb hose as it bends acutely downward. Perhaps the material the line is made of resists crimping. Thanks.

Re: Factory fuel line routing on 73 Z1

Awesome. Thanks for the picture. I have not seen that before having a Z1a and a Z1R. Neither one has your Petcock. Maybe someone else with Z1 with original petcock will also send a pic. I'm trying to keep the bike as original as possible for collectability reasons.

Re: Factory fuel line routing on 73 Z1

Thanks for the reply. Having the front outlet direct the line more in the direction of the carb inlet would have been a good idea. I have not seen a Z1 petcock either repro or OEM that looked like that. Hopefully someone with a 73 or perhaps later Z1 will jump in and straighten this out for me.

Factory fuel line routing on 73 Z1

Was the factory fuel line routing as follows? Hose from front petcock outlet straight down to common float bowl inlet for cyl 1,2. Back cock outlet hose straight across and down to common 3,4 inlet. I have fuel filters on it now but I`m just curious how it came from the factory since the 1,2 hose ha...

Re: Introduction of self

Bill
The Doremi 4 into 4's are way to expensive as are all Doremi products. I have bought nothing from them. I have thought about a set of black Kerker 4 into 1 headers to look more like my 73. It runs so nice I'm reluctant to mess with it other than cosmetically.

Re: Introduction of self

Hi Bill. I really like the Z900rs. As much as I love my vintage machines there can be no denying that the new bikes are in a different class of power and performance. I have no complaints about the rs other than the throttle is a bit over responsive and it difficult to cruise at a steady speed. A li...

Re: Me, the new guy

Rick. Appears we have some things in common. I have a 1950 C rapide. I have a 73 H1 ( the 69 would be preferable although I always loved the orange 72 H1B.) I'm in Arizona . Most of my best riding back in the 70S involved Z1s and KZs. Some great rides to the Grand Canyon and around Arizona. Hope to ...

Re: 73 fuel tank

Well I did a side by side with the 2 tanks. The are considerable differences in the depths of the contours of the underside and I suspect at least some of it is due to the damage and repair, but hard to imagine it could account for all the difference. I was able to " gently persuade " the ...

Re: Introduction of self

Thanks for the welcomes. I will get some pics up soon. The Kickstart Grill existed in Tucson from 1998 until 2003. Some good times, bike shows monthly, live bands on weekends, weekend rides up the nearby mountain and elsewhere. Charity events, weddings and a good group of regulars ( and a few troubl...
