I might well get the airbox side as they are rock hard and I worried last time about them cracking and one doesnt quite fit.

Thanks for that Darren but already have some, got to take the bloody carbs off again though now as they are leaking at the feed pipe, i think the seal has gone, hours of fun getting them on again or buy some pods and do away with the air box and make life easier.

Engine finished,carbs on finally after an hour of swearing and wrestling and swearing again, exhaust on. Got it turning over on the starter after finding a broken wire in the handle bar switch (only had 9 volts at the starter relay). Sounded awful, chain slapping, grinding and all sorts, turned it o...

Timing sorted now but had re retap all the threads on the head as the bolts were binding, ho hum. Exhaust and carbs next, then got to try and get a couple of dents out the tank and see if it runs!

Barrels and head on now, found 3 buggered threads and a dodgey helicoil whilst putting it back together so carefully had to retap the threads and hope the bolts hold. Put the cams in got everything lined up, counted the chain pins everything ok, put the tensioners in and tightened it all up and its ...

Got the bottom end in, one of those jobs that you realise haf way throught that you should of had some help!! Must remember I'm not 20 anymore.

My son had the same problem with his Harley, it would run OK then stop instantly then not start till it had cooled down. Everyone told him it was fuel but they will generally die slowly if its fuel related as it burns the weakening fuel mixture, stopping instantly is usually electrical. You need to ...

Nice job, but as you know deep pockets are required. Unfortunately there are big child and grandchild size holes in my pockets which is why its taken so long!! :D I will have to clean up the rest of the bike myself and replace what I can when I can but first objective is to get it back on the road ...
