Re: Ignition switch for Z1 with key #752

That’s absolutely brilliant! Do you know if there was one that referred to the ignition switch amongst the others you saw? Also was it Philippe who posted those too as I might consder dropping him a line if so?

Thanks so much for your help.

Ignition switch for Z1 with key #752

Trying to find used or NOS ignition switch for a Z1 which uses key #752 in a bid to keep the seat and ignition the same.

A long shot I know, fingers crossed.

Thanks.

Stewart.

Re: Oil pressure gone!

Bit of an update and I’d like your thoughts guys. I removed the filter and checked to see if the oil was being pumped into the filter chamber (which it is.) Took filter off the bolt/cover assembly and replaced cover without the filter. Oil light went out after about 10 seconds. Are we looking at the...

Ok thanks. No oil cooler.

Always worth asking - but yes.

Re: Oil pressure gone!

Right..... ok that makes sense I’ll check that. If I drain the filter first (leaving oil in the rest of sump) and then turn over the engine I’ll get a flow there right (at the filter drain plug if the pump is working at all)? Would that make sense too?

Thanks for coming back.

Oil pressure gone!

Hi guys. Z1B. En route back from my first ’50-miles-plus' outing since engine rebuild, on Sunday last. Stopped for 10 minutes and oil warning light failed to go out when I restarted. Tried the obvious pressure switch wiring checks etc. Anyway, fast-forward to getting the thing back home and I happen...

Re: Piston and cylinder scoring.

To be fair all rings play their part, the top ring does indeed form the initial compression seal, however the 2nd ring then takes care of any of the compression that leaks past the 1st ring.hence reason ring gaps are staggered 180 apart. The oil control obv controls the oil preventing excess enteri...

Re: Piston and cylinder scoring.

Hi just noticed your post, as you will see i ended up stripping my full engine down to enable vapour blasting, when i look at my pistons after some 20+ thousand miles they also had very light scoring on the skirts but not as pronounced as yours, of course I've no idea if the engine has been refresh...

Re: Piston and cylinder scoring.

That's much appreciated. I was planning to re-hone again before the new rings. I'll make sure they get the soapy wash (which I know they didn't last time.)

Hopefully the little damage that has been done this time is what it is and not too tragic.

Thanks again.

Re: Piston and cylinder scoring.

A tricky one as skirt scuffing like that is not uncommon with contaminants in the oil and normal wear etc and i would have suggested that maybe the clearances were done a little tight on the resleeved one but #4 looks worse unless it's the pic angle. Were all the bores bored or honed and if so were...

Piston and cylinder scoring.

Hi all. Had the head off Z1B recently and noticed some marking inside cylinder #1 which was re-sleeved about 500 miles ago. Also some scoring on rear of pistons 1 & 4. Wonder if anyone has any idea what is going on here? Given it is so few miles since the sleeve at least was renewed I am concern...

Axle holder to fit Z1

Hi all.

I am looking for one single axle holder to fit the base of the front fork on a Z1 if anyone has a stray one I could purchase without remortgaging the house? Kawa part no. 44063-003

I think they are common to quite a few bikes.

Thanks in advance.

Rgds,
Stewart
