Hello Sparky63,
I finished an A4 restoration this summer and live in north Essex so could possibly help you if you are really stuck. The Kawasaki workshop manual would be a huge help but also get the downloads on the ZPower website as well - the parts diagrams can really useful.

Re: Battery and clutch questions
I think that the springs that Rob was referring to are the springs that are captive in the clutch basket assembly. It is not uncommon for these springs to be damaged or broken which allows play and results in a noisy clutch. In order to fix this the clutch basket must be removed and the rivets that ...

Re: Misfire no.4 cylinder
That looks fine to me - witness mark on the rubber surface suggests that it is sealing correctly

Re: Misfire no.4 cylinder
When I reassembled my carbs (with new choke seals) I noticed that one of the raised cylindrical bosses that the choke rubber seals against was quite rough from corrossion i.e.not a good sealing surface. I made up tool to recut/ dress the bosses to make sure the new choke plungers actually sealed. Mi...

Re: Z990 A4 Locks
Following my post below, might anyone have a good condition seat lock with any key number to fit a Z900 A4 that they would be willing to sell?

Z990 A4 Locks
Hi All,
I appreciate that this is unlikely but is there anyone out there that has either a steering lock or seat lock for key number 760 for a Z900 A4?
Thanks in advance...

Re: KZ900 carb help
On completing my Z900 A4 I set the pilot air screws to 1and 3/8 of a turn as per the workshop manual. It very nearly ran OK but had the common problem of hesitancy on light throttle or it would momentarily bog down if the throttle was closed and then reopened - - really annoying! A check of the plug...

Re: Valve Clearance Queries
I had my Z900 head set up by Dave at Buzzworkz because the seats needed recutting and the valves had to be tipped as well. I checked the clearances after about 400 miles and they are all at 0.15mm or very slightly over this in line with what Rob has been saying. The bike runs smoothly and pulls like...

Re: Z900 A4 Engine rebuild yet again!
Hello Graham, I'm sorry to hear of all the problems you've been encountering during this rebuild. How about using an endoscope to locate and fish this plate out. They can work off your mobile phone and some have magnet attachment or hooks that should retrieve the part once you've located it. It will...

Re: Z1000st rusty tank
Just to make the decision even more confusing i would recommend Evapo-rust. This is the best rust remover I have used - safe to use, non-acidic, and seems to passivate the steel surface - no flash rusting.

Some of mine were very similar to the one in your photo. I posted on here and told they were fine.

Re: Z900 A4 fuel leak any ideas please?
Hello Graham, as Grog has stated you have to use the gauge valves to restrict airflow, i.e damp the needle movement. It is important though that the needles still flicker a little to get an accurate response/reading - don't overdo the airflow restriction. Ideally the readings should be within approx...

Re: Z900 A4 fuel leak any ideas please?
Hello Graham, I balanced my carbs last weekend. It was a little more difficult than I anticipated as every time I adjusted one carb it had some effect on the others. The one main thing I found was that when I had them all nicely synchronised tightening up the lock screw changed the setting so adapte...
