Re: gpz valuation
LIke Chris says there could be snakes waiting fir anyone who buys a non running project, i know i got bit with one of mine. There is a complete finished bike near exact the same on ebay, thats 2 grand more (buy open to offers) than you would offer for the project bike and looks like its a tight buil...

Re: gpz valuation
The injector jets can be serviced and there are still a few kicking about if they are knackered, the throttle bodies are simple enough and the 21176-1004 THROTTLE SENSOR is shared with a few other bikes. Yea kick back a wait to see if the worm is bit.

Re: gpz valuation
yup a DFI one. I'd want to see all the FI bits are in place or you could go RS34s but as has been said cosmetically not great and mechanically suspect especially internally. If I was really interested I'd want it to start with a 1 and certainly no more than a very low 2 - but that's me. As a compar...

Re: gpz valuation
This is one of those head over heart situations. It doesn’t look like that engine has been touched to me so the first thing I would be asking is what proof do they have of the rebore? Do they have photos or receipts. I’m saying that it’s basically a non running bike with the standard front and back ...

Go with the attitude of "look at the work ill have to do rather than whats done, take everything that's said with a grain of salt, dont buy on the day and come back and show us the pics and a price that asked. Happy hunting.

Re: gpz valuation
Bring a fridge magnet and place it all around the tank( it wont stick to filler areas). They are made of thinner steel to reduce weight cause of their size. Prone to rusting through in the bottom edges and dent easy so could be full of filler.

Re: gpz valuation
Thanks. It's got extended gsxr forks if it makes any odds. Jmc swinger and new oil cooler n hoses (earls) It's got a few new parts but would obviously need a proper going over. Is there any common issues to look out for? Apart from the crappy fuel injection? I believe tanks are prone to rot, but no...

Re: gpz valuation
Sounds like an "unfinished" project. God knows whats cut off or if "fitted" actually means road safe (gsxr fork are notoriously to short for a bike like that unless it a gsxr1100 95 on). Half the bike sounds missing and there probably was a good (or bad) reason it was parked up u...

Re: Z1000 ST front brake rattle
This could be the culprit but not certainly. It is more of a reason than a warped disk but better to eliminate both possibilities.

Re: Z1000 ST front brake rattle
Thanks Angus, I will have the wheel off this week and will investigate and report back! I worked in an industrial coating/paint shop for a good few years and out of all the coating methods powder has the least consistent depth, one extra pass over an area creates significant depth fluctuations. Its...

Re: Z1000 ST front brake rattle
If there is powder coat on the seating areas thats the first thing i would be getting rid of. Metal to metal as there could always be fluctuations in the thickness of the powder coat.
