Re: German gpz1100
This was a nice surprise! Been off the forum due to life lately and only took a quick peek to see what is happening. I love my A2, heavy but solid. and agree not nearly enough around. I'll be watching in eager anticipation!

Re: Z1100/1170 head gasket issues
I recently put an MLS gasket on an A2 following Al’s good advise. They are excellent, no issue with leak now and although not sold as reusable, you would be very unfortunate if it cant be used again. Only issue I had was that as I didn’t know the exact modifications to my head, I had to strip and th...

Comforting to know I’m not alone. I might try that Keith, thanks for the advice.

Re: Battery or charging issue?
The stator output and test procedure are in the fsm. Do you have a combined reg/rec or seperate units. If the stator output passes then it can only raelly be the regulator or connections. Rectifier just converts ac to dc. Regulator limits supply to the battery to stop it boiling dry.. Thanks Warren...

Re: Battery or charging issue?
Hi Warren, After the spin home while headlight was off the batter is charged and will now start the bike as usual. It had a similar run immediately before I stalled it and when I pressed the starter it was proper flat, not just weak. But it did try turn over and all connections seemed good. It also ...

Battery or charging issue?
Gents!, I went for a spin today on the 1100 unitrac. First good run since sorting the forks and head gasket. All seemed well, until after about 40 miles I was in slow traffic and stalled it. When Itried to start it it couldn’t turn over fully even one turn I check the voltmeter, it read about 11.5v....

Re: Cable tie method for changing shims?
There is a second tool it is ‘W’ shaped and it usually comes with a small lever. I have both but only use the one pictured above. But the lever is handy for removing shims. Not sure this info is much use but may be less expensive then the one above. But one session of setting shims and it’s paid for...

152 views and one person has replied, I dont see the point of bothering on this forum or club anymore, I have tried to get help a few times and no replies. I'm pleased other marques owners clubs and forums are not like this one. what a waste of time. I actually had attempted to reply, praising the ...
Re: Cerakote
Im using the air dry stuff ,i got it blasted and spent a couple of weeks cleaning and rinsing then bathing it in acetone in a big tub (not submerged )until i was sure there were no oils left . I had bought a pop up spray booth IMG_1167.jpeg So had a go ,there was very little overspray with the star...

. If you are referring to the crowd in cork then yea they are a bit costy but seem to do good work and they say they grantee what they do. https://www.youtube.com/@Cerakote/videos Fair enough if they do good work, but, still expensive, but then again everything seems to have gone through the roof i...
Re: Cerakote
Would you mind putting up details of the process? I heard it is pretty straight forward but no idea what is involved. I have a Kerker 4-1 that would do with some TLC but the only lad I came across in my neck of the woods is looking for my first born for doing the job.

Re: Brake fluid hose
I had a look at the bikes I have access to. The 1000and 1100r appear to be about 130mm long. the GPZ1100, 750 turbo and 550 unitracs all appear to be 140mm. I didn't detach any of them but they appear the same diameter. you might not even need to trim the extra 10mm but it shouldn't be an issue if y...

Re: Brake fluid hose
Hi Col, I managed to get a hose and the outer protective coil only a few years ago. I will measure it tomorrow. If it is no longer available, it could be worth checking if they revised the part no.some times this happens, perhaps because a newer bike has same part? The rear ms set up is very common ...

Re: Z1000r refurb
I painted an elr for a mate. He supplied a decal set which didn't wrap around. We spent a lot of time confirming which was original and every kawasaki literature and period photo we found had them wrapped around so that's what we went with. Kawasaki brochure pics. Re: Z1000r refurb
When I got mine done and the fairing decals came to the front not wrapped round. I looked a lot of pictures of Lawson some do some don’t so I don’t think there’s a definitive right or wrong. It looks good so if someone comes up and tells you it should be otherwise tell them to :blush :blush :blush ...
