Re: Cable tie method for changing shims?

There is a second tool it is ‘W’ shaped and it usually comes with a small lever. I have both but only use the one pictured above. But the lever is handy for removing shims. Not sure this info is much use but may be less expensive then the one above. But one session of setting shims and it’s paid for...

Re: Head Gaskets

I'm pleased other marques owners clubs and forums are not like this one. what a waste of time. I actually had attempted to reply, praising the ...

Re: Cerakote

. If you are referring to the crowd in cork then yea they are a bit costy but seem to do good work and they say they grantee what they do. https://www.youtube.com/@Cerakote/videos Fair enough if they do good work, but, still expensive, but then again everything seems to have gone through the roof i...

Re: Cerakote

Would you mind putting up details of the process? I heard it is pretty straight forward but no idea what is involved. I have a Kerker 4-1 that would do with some TLC but the only lad I came across in my neck of the woods is looking for my first born for doing the job.

Re: Brake fluid hose

I had a look at the bikes I have access to. The 1000and 1100r appear to be about 130mm long. the GPZ1100, 750 turbo and 550 unitracs all appear to be 140mm. I didn't detach any of them but they appear the same diameter. you might not even need to trim the extra 10mm but it shouldn't be an issue if y...

Re: Brake fluid hose

Hi Col, I managed to get a hose and the outer protective coil only a few years ago. I will measure it tomorrow. If it is no longer available, it could be worth checking if they revised the part no.some times this happens, perhaps because a newer bike has same part? The rear ms set up is very common ...

Re: Z1000r refurb

I painted an elr for a mate. He supplied a decal set which didn't wrap around. We spent a lot of time confirming which was original and every kawasaki literature and period photo we found had them wrapped around so that's what we went with. Kawasaki brochure pics. KZ1000R 1983 sales brochure (3).jp...

Re: Z1000r refurb

When I got mine done and the fairing decals came to the front not wrapped round. I looked a lot of pictures of Lawson some do some don’t so I don’t think there’s a definitive right or wrong. It looks good so if someone comes up and tells you it should be otherwise tell them to :blush :blush :blush ...

So green and shiney! looks amazing :D and my mom has those same curtains! You can have the curtains when I'm done! Amazing how a week ago I though this bike as all set to go once I got the bodywork back. Now I'm struggling to find the parts and lables etc. I squirrelled away over the last 5 years, ...

Re: Z1000r refurb

Well, at long last I got the body work completed. The decals are a little short around the edges of the bikini fairing and the tank, but the paintwork is spot on and I'm not going to loss sleep over something the vast majority would not notice. One word of advice, don't get decals until you are read...

Re: Tank Hole

If there is a hole in the tank, that is 100% section loss to the steel, the surrounding area will not be unaffected. There are numerous pin holes about to break through and likely at least one wider area with reduced section. Clean and Braze or solder are the second best options but don't skimp on t...
