The Constellation is a 700cc twin , its been sat in the shed here for at least the last 15 years. Its all together and turns over ok . Any engine is only as strong as it's weakest part , maybe best that BMW make sure that they never piss off the guy who makes the valve springs!

Yes the downpipes do seperate from the rest of the exhaust

it might also be worth you marking them 1 2 3 4 etc on the inside of the downpipes to help speed up the re assembly, some of the downpipes were ready stamped 1 - 4 but not all of them were
