Rebore for z1000A1

Hi all Just need some advice on whether my zed needs a rebore. It has done 69k miles and is burning oil, but have been advised to have a rebore rather than fit new piston rings. I really dont want to have to do anything again once rebuilt. I am doing the valve seals too. If rebore needed then is a s...

Z1000A1 burning oil

My Z1000A1 is burning quite a lot of oil on longer warmer journeys after nearly 69,000 miles on the clock. Would a total top end rebuild, valve seals and rebore be the way to go ? Cheers Chris

Thanks for the info. I am seriously thinking about going for this idea. So I need the full triple tree from the bandit.

Thanks. Looking at doing the same, using a bandit front end.
Any significant mods needed ?

Cheers

Which more modern front end for my Z1000A1 ??

Hi All Further to my various posts about trying to identify the forks on my z1000A1, I am planning to replace the rear wheel with a bandit 600, which I have, as this will fit into the mechamex swinging arm on the bike. With that in mind what would you suggest that I put at the front end that would c...

See photos. Might be best for me to replace with new upper forks as they are pitted. Any ideas where I can get them from ? Cheers http://i1111.photobucket.com/albums/h478/maycottage/WP_20141024_009.jpg http://i1111.photobucket.com/albums/h478/maycottage/WP_20141024_005.jpg

Air Assisted Shocks

I have air assisted shocks on my 77' z1000A1, but do not know what they are actually off. This is a problem when it comes to quants of fork oil, seals etc. Can anyone suggest from which bike they might be from ? They have caps in the top with holes in, which has meant that the recessed square plugs ...

Reepham Classic Car and Bike Festival (Norfolk)

Hi everyone,
We, the Raptors MCC based in Reepham, Norfolk, are helping to put on this event in the market place on Sunday 28 Sept 11am to 4.30pm. It would be good to have a few more zeds apart from mine. Anyone interested please get back to me.

Many thanks

Chris

Fork Oil to modified Z1000A1 with air assist mech

All I am now putting in the oil after fitting new fork oil seals, which has been a real problem as the bike is none standard and it has those strange caps with 1/2 inch square spigot recesses under the top caps. These could not be removed as too rusty, so having to put new oil in from the bottom, th...

Fork Springs - z1000A1

Do you need a special tool to compress them when refitting following fork seal change ?

Thanks
