Re: Gpz1100b1

After a bit of trial and error with the clutch, its really light now and the carbs are working reasonably well on the bench, its probably finished or as much as I can do until I get the paintwork back. I have a few small tidying jobs to do and a battery to get. It looks ok, although in the future, i...

Re: Gpz1100b1 air box

Cheers Al. Very interesting read, I wonder if it would work with carbs in a b1 engine, frame and air box?

Re: Gpz1100b1 air box

As i found out, although the j head is similar to the b1 it has a longer inlet due to the injectors, although it works fine on a j engine. You also have to elongate the holes in the inlet rubbers so that you can bolt them to the head. Also the frame around the battery box is very different and the j...

Re: Gpz1100b1 air box

Al, purely out of interest at the moment and having time to ponder. I borrowed a j airbox of Julian right at the start of the project and realised its very different. Just thinking about all the associated problems that go with cone filters, i wondered if you combine the two. The carbs are further b...

Re: Clutch adjustment gpz1100b1

Ok update time. Finally sorted it. The gpz does not have a ball bearing fitted. Tried with one and it jams up the clutch. Also spoke to Chris Tombleson and he said nope doesnt have one. Stripped the clutch down and saw the hub was worn by the plates. I had a better condition spare and cleaned up any...

Re: Clutch adjustment gpz1100b1

Al, thats the picture i have, but it isnt replicated in any of the parts manuals. The pushrod is 335mm, the number from the parts catalogue has been superceeded but it matches the lawson one. Just have to keep fiddling with it to get it right. Chris Tombleson reckons it doesnt have one unless its an...

Re: Clutch adjustment gpz1100b1

Hi Phillipe, I removed the ball bearing as soon as i tried it out. The push rod is the correct one as i used the part number on the manual, although a superceeded part number, its the correct length.
I am tweaking the adjustment and its slow going but I think I am making progress.

Clutch adjustment gpz1100b1

Having a few conflicting issues with this one, so could do with some guidance. The factory manual mentions a ball bearing for a b2 but there is no picture or obvious part number in the parts manual. The engine is a 1981 b1, it has the newer ramp and roller clutch release mechanism and a new pushrod....

Re: An African Adventure - 1995

I was working in Malawi at the same time you went through. I was with an Army expedition clearing a road through the bush, so that rangers could track poachers. Amazing people. A few of our guys got bilharzia, although we were told the lake was safe and one ended up in medical research publications ...
