Hi Alan,
Thanks for the response. Much appreciated.
I found a company called Maidstone Motoliner. They took it on and did a great job of straightening it out. Cost £66 including courier back to me.
One for anyone else with the same problems.
Cheers
John

Re: wheel rim problem
Thanks fellas,
I was thinking of making a wooden mould too. Will see what else comes in first.
I've added the post to bike help as advised.

wheel rim problem
Hello all I managed to source a rear wheel with the right date codes for my Z1. I got it from a guy in the states at great cost to me including import duties etc. I recently started work on it only to find that there is a flat section on one side of the rim (absolutely not what I was expecting). See...

Re: Loom protection question - 1973 Z1
Thanks Gentlemen, I'm glad I joined this club. Only a few weeks in and the help has been worth every penny. Re your answers, thanks again for the positive input. As the bike is really original in most aspects I would prefer to go down the route of replacing like for like even if it is a pain to do i...

Loom protection question - 1973 Z1
Hello again people, Does anyone know if it is possible to replace / or properly repair the sheathing on the wiring loom where it travels past the headstock area? Mine is cracked in several places. it's been taped up here and there but I'm really not happy with that kind of bodge to be honest. The wi...

Re: Help with wheel rim codes
Hello Phileppe Many thanks for your comprehensive reply. Also apologies for my late response - I haven't visited the club website for a while. I'll check out the hub v the rim. I've also recently bought a 303 rim from a guy in France. It pre dates the bike (date code 2G) despite its age it is in goo...

Re: Help with wheel rim codes
Thanks very much guys,
So the 278 signifies Feb 1978 and the 1289 December 89. It all makes sense now.
A long way off 1973 but at least they are original make rims.
Is it unusual to have original rims on a bike so old?
Thanks again much appreciated
John

Help with wheel rim codes
Hello everyone, I'm new to the club after having bought a Z1 earlier this month. The bike has a proof of manufacture certificate signed by Rick Brett stating that it was made in April 1973. The majors all hang together nicely but I'm trying to establish how original the other bits are especially wha...
