Re: ZRX forks pre-load adjustment

Thanks Rob, i think there may be two different versions of ZRX forks internally but still trying to get my head around adding pre-load and it not changing the ride height. If you compress the spring it must get shorter and if you add length to it they must get longer!! There are some 'pre-load space...

ZRX forks pre-load adjustment

Hopefully this sneaks under the radar because they are routinely fitted hereabouts and they are on a Gpz 1100B. :!: I have zero knowledge of modern forks, the J is the newest bike ive owned :D The ZXR (edit; should say ZRX) forks have approx. 10mm or so, blue pre-load adjusters on top. There are abo...

Re: Front brake problem

I have one here the same as yours but from the J. It has a microscopic hole in the LHS as viewed in youre picture. The hole looks rusty in the bottom suggesting it has a steel ferrule in it but is probably the exposed top of the steel sleeve,.. but definately a hole. Perhaps 1/4mm in diameter or so!...

Re: BS 34's

In the factory manual the pilots for Z1000J and Z1000R are both listed as 37.5. The Z1100R1 supplement in the later Unitrak manual says they are 37.5 also so you should be good to go. You could confirm the size by taking the other ones out of the replacement carb set and see what you have. Are the '...

Re: Z1000r v j forks

There were some airbox side covers on here recently. http://z1ownersclub.co.uk/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=51079 I had a set of forks in the J (original ones to the bike) one of which was bent. I bought another set from here thinking they would be the same. Essentially they were, but later discov...

Re: Charging

Just had a chance to test the location of my rotor to stator situation. I replaced the rotor last year (reasons a little above this post). It was apparent that when putting the outer casing on,.. the cover with the stator would be snatched out of my hands and slam itself shut. I took the rotor off a...

They do list a repair or replacement option for some of the IC Ignitors for Z1000 A and MKII etc. https://www.carmoelectronics.co.uk/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=493_4686_1830_2163&zenid=j474m77n6hcer4k13gci3u3sm5 https://www.carmoelectronics.co.uk/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=493_...

Re: Twisted but where?

Thats more like it in my opinion. If you hit it, the instaneous force applied is only acting locally and the energy cannot be dissipated or broadly transmitted so something gets bent. A couple of years ago i was asked to do a repair to an Americam classic car chassis in a friends garage with limited...

Finally,... found them. Yours if you want them and from my J1. 10mm threads, 41mm under the heads which are upset with the number 7 in raised script. If youre not in a hurry because getting to a post office here is a half day affair. Theres' 4 plus a spare, all good threads i have checked them in th...

Re: Twisted but where?

Assuming i have understood youre plan i would say that there is next to zero chance of getting the outcome you need. If youre intending to strike the sacrificial 'slug' sideways i think it will bend the holding bolt first, bend the yolk centre tube / damage its thread and oval the headstock where th...

Re: Charging

For completness there is also the self generating CDI version STK 310 which is oddly cheaper for some reason https://www.electrexworld.co.uk/acatalog/STK-310.html#SID=942 and historically there has been this type of arrangement which you can still occassionally find https://phaseone.co.uk/for-sale/ ...
