Manual tap is a better bet in my view. At least it works if the engine isnt running!!!! Assuming it does work as intended.. The vac port on mine is not connected and i just use the PRI position.

Re: Z900 A4 fuel leak any ideas please?
Whilst you in there with the baseplate out you might pull the cam and see if you have one of these shim washers in there. Can jam the advance unit when they break. Cam must go back in the same way as it came out!!! Dont follow the picture its probably the wrong way and its also the later J version j...
Re: BS 34's
It might be better if it didnt start in some ways. If the IC ignitor is the same on the 1000R you might trying to swop them over and see what you get. Another thing that has tripped me up a couple of times is the earth on the back RHS of the engine. It persists in frothing up and oxidising and that ...

That made me laugh, thanks.
It may become more compliant the more you use it.

Re: BS 34's
If it has become predictably reluctant to start; nothing, nothing, nothing, nothing, nothing, nothing, everything ~ i think its unlikely to be a fuel issue. Its been a while since i had CV's but with the bike in general i got into little habits, some of which now wont go away. :D I turn on the fuel ...

Re: Under seat decal
Have you got or have you seen a decal with that part number with a J model pictured in it? The number itself comes back to a MKII. The pic below is from a J2 thats sold and it shows what looks like an original sticker with that part number but with a MKII bike. There is also a rear guard for sale on...

Re: ZRX forks pre-load adjustment
Thanks Rob, i think there may be two different versions of ZRX forks internally but still trying to get my head around adding pre-load and it not changing the ride height. If you compress the spring it must get shorter and if you add length to it they must get longer!! There are some 'pre-load space...

ZRX forks pre-load adjustment
Hopefully this sneaks under the radar because they are routinely fitted hereabouts and they are on a Gpz 1100B. :!: I have zero knowledge of modern forks, the J is the newest bike ive owned :D The ZXR (edit; should say ZRX) forks have approx. 10mm or so, blue pre-load adjusters on top. There are abo...

Re: Front brake problem
I have one here the same as yours but from the J. It has a microscopic hole in the LHS as viewed in youre picture. The hole looks rusty in the bottom suggesting it has a steel ferrule in it but is probably the exposed top of the steel sleeve,.. but definately a hole. Perhaps 1/4mm in diameter or so!...
Re: BS 34's
In the factory manual the pilots for Z1000J and Z1000R are both listed as 37.5. The Z1100R1 supplement in the later Unitrak manual says they are 37.5 also so you should be good to go. You could confirm the size by taking the other ones out of the replacement carb set and see what you have. Are the '...

Re: Z1000r v j forks
There were some airbox side covers on here recently. http://z1ownersclub.co.uk/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=51079 I had a set of forks in the J (original ones to the bike) one of which was bent. I bought another set from here thinking they would be the same. Essentially they were, but later discov...

Re: Charging
Just had a chance to test the location of my rotor to stator situation. I replaced the rotor last year (reasons a little above this post). It was apparent that when putting the outer casing on,.. the cover with the stator would be snatched out of my hands and slam itself shut. I took the rotor off a...

They do list a repair or replacement option for some of the IC Ignitors for Z1000 A and MKII etc. https://www.carmoelectronics.co.uk/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=493_4686_1830_2163&zenid=j474m77n6hcer4k13gci3u3sm5 https://www.carmoelectronics.co.uk/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=493_...
