Why are swing arm caps shaped like this?
Pardon my ignorance but why do the swing arm caps have an elliptical cut out in them? Is it to let grease escape? And when installed should the cut out face downwards?

I'm using Vesrah, the complete set with the O-rings, always a good experience.

+1 for Vesrah, with the exception of their stem seals which have got worse in my opinion. Vesrah made many of the oem gaskets for bike manufacturers in Japan and still do as far as I know.

Throttle cables - do you oil?
Recently returned from 800 mile mini tour in wales during storm Babit, very interesting over the high mountains in the north with the rain and gale force winds to say the least, had an issue with either one or both throttle cables, sticky throttle and not returning under spring force, tried oiling i...

Re: Oops.....need tank repaired
Er thats quite some incident Pete! Bummer. If it were me I would take it to a car bodyshop, they have amazing gadgets to remove dents, bend and stretch metal etc, am thinking of the spot welded pullers here. They won't like it if tank smells of fuel though, I would rinse it out with hot soapy water ...

Re: Any Electrics Experts
Pleased your modification has worked out. I’m not a huge fan of the relay modification to power the coils as it has some inherent issues. If I were to do this mod I would use a relay with positive break contacts which means that if the contacts weld together, when the power is removed from the rela...

Re: Z900A4 float levels
The wet method is the only sure fire way to get them set correctly in my opinion. Make a jig and or clamp the bank in a vice ensuring level, use spirit level. You can get variations due to tiny trapped air bubbles in the level indicator tube, try and have it pointing straight down when you turn on t...

You can mix and match them in any order you like as they are all the same dimensional wise.
Thank you!

Camshaft bearing shells
Hi all, can anyone enlighten me on this curiosity? Parts manual says all the shells are the same part number, On the actual shells mine are marked: D4KA STD for the top ones, i.e. the caps, and D4JA STD for the bottom ones, i.e. the cylinder head. Why the different numbers, all be it a letter K vs J...

Re: 77 KZ650B1 Valve Shim Bucket
I’ve fitted the replacement bucket I don’t have any clearance at all You should measure the distance of the bucket between the face that sits on the shim and the face that the cam runs on to make sure it's the same as yours. All those shim under buckets look the same throughout the 650 to 1100 rang...
