Re: Z1000Ltd
The LTD with the J style engine is probably the least popular and therefore lowest priced of all of the big Zeds. Does it run ? Does it run well ? It's got surface rust - will this clean off to look like new ? the RH/throttle side handlebar looks like it may be slightly bent (or is it just the pictu...

Re: 1977 Z650 project
Looks like a bargain and a great opportunity to get a project with most of the bits already there ! I'm surprised no one has snapped it up yet ! A couple of years or so earlier and I'd have been heading your way with a roll of cash ! I expect it'll be bought soon enough. z650's are great bikes to ri...

Re: Gpz1100a1 resto mod
If my memory is correct, the 2pcs. M8x81mm bolts go in the lower crank case on the ignition side - first pair inboard of the ignition housing mounting face. The "wasted" design is used widely in engineering and often seen in automotive application. Type "Wasted Bolt Design" into ...

If you can give us a clue what you are looking for then maybe someone can help !
Those rearsets AL has posted look pretty much what you get with aftermarket stuff.
It'll be good to see what you finally come up with.

Re: kz1000 build
A word to the wise maybe but take care when you first fit your Metmachex swinging arm, especially if it the less common shallow braced style - the rear frame / footrest / exhaust hangers on the type of frame you have can produce clearance problems. Nothing which can't be sorted out but all too easy ...

Re: kz1000 build
It'll be good to see an old school 70's style Zed !
So many get "restored" these days.
I for one don't remember ANYBODY riding about on a STANDARD Zed back then. It was part of what owning a big Zed was all about !
Good luck with the build !
Dave

Re: z1/z9 fuel tanks....differences
Hello Baldrick Questions for you ! Are you putting a tank on a Z1 frame or something else ? Is the frame standard ? I never had a problem swapping tanks Z1/Z900/Z1000 (early). Maybe an odd adjustment to a seat hinge or repositioning the rubber shock absorbers on the frame tubes. Any tank any frame. ...

Re: Electronic tacho
Hello Mick, unless someone can offer a better idea then I'm going to say you could make one yourself ! Its a long time ago and I'm short on detail but I put together an electronic tacho for one of my old Zeds myself. You need to find a donor electronic tacho and carefully strip out the dial face / n...
