Hello my name is Jacqueline and I am John’s partner. You may have read on the forum that John passed suddenly and unexpectedly in February this year and I now find myself having to sort out his affairs whilst dealing with his loss. I have decided to sell his beloved Bike as I have no motorcycle lice...

Re: Valve stem oil seals and valve seal conditioners

Hi Johnny, youre probably right, I'm still working on the Zed so in no hurry atm haha!! I've probably mentioned it but I've bought a new KTM Duke 790, it exactly 10 stone lighter than the Zed and has all the modern electronics to keep me riding for a while yet!! I'll see how I feel about the Zed in ...

Re: Indicator electrical gremlins..

All sorted now, had to get a local sparky to sort it though, was multiple issues but now fitted with new modern waterproof + idiot proof connectors (cant mix up left and right switches) for the new handle bar switch gear I bought. The switch gear came from the US and was supposed to be a straight fi...

Re: 1977 Z1000A1

I'm in the same boat m8, similar bikes and similar provenance, mine is a US import as well, bought by me in 1992. Your bike looks lovely btw! http://z1ownersclub.co.uk/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=45472 I was hoping for about £7K - £7500ish given the sensible mods I've carried out, mainly for reli...

Re: Valve stem oil seals and valve seal conditioners

Cheers Zedhead and all, if I can get circa £7K and to a good home I'll be happy, I've had a lifetime of fun so would be a bonus if I can give someone else a bit of the same!!

Re: Valve stem oil seals and valve seal conditioners

Hi ZedHead, thanks for the info over the past few emails I've posted. Any ideas what would be a fair price? I'd rather sell to a good home than make a profit. Owned by myself since 1992, hundreds of receipts kept over the years. Engine is 1075 Wiseco, HD valve springs, APE valve spring retainers, cr...

Re: Valve stem oil seals and valve seal conditioners

So all, is a bit of smoke on start-up acceptable? And how do I pitch this on a potential sale? It's not using / burning any oil, and it goes away the minute you pull away when warm, and pulls like a train (Wiseco 1075 & VM 29 Smoothbores). I'm probably going to sell the bike on Ebay, or I might ...

Valve stem oil seals and valve seal conditioners

My bikes smokes slightly on start up and it seems it's probably hardened valve stem seals, APE ones on my bike and I think someone said these harden with lack of use. I was given a bottle of this by my father-in-law, said it worked on an old MG he was working on for a friend. https://www.amazon.co.u...

Re: Indicator electrical gremlins..

No, just the normal headlight. Yes wiring could be better, it's all original as far as I know so might just be a process of elimination.

Indicator electrical gremlins..

Hi all, I remember when I took my bike (Z1000A1) off the road a year or so back that when I was out on the last run the right hand indicator stopped flashing. I though it must just have been the flasher relay and ordered up a new one. I fitted it today along with a new fully charged get battery and ...
