You should be made aware that (except for the colour) the speedo drive is the same as on the XT600 and therefore can be picked up really cheap ?

IIRC the early 600s even had black speedo drives...

Hope this helps

I have at least one spare set of 280mm disks, which I don't intend to use as I now run full floating 300mm disks on my Z1000J (with very late 1100ST frontend)

Cheers,
Greg

Loosen the rear engine mounts. You can (depending on your physical disposition) quite easily over tighten them and then the swingarm pivot is too narrow.

Says a bit about the rigidity of the Zed-frame though...

I think, I still have a good set kicking about, as I converted to 300mm disks and other calipers on the original front forks.

If you simply force the tubes apart they will form a v or A shape, i.e. the swingarm bores will not be exactly level anymore and as they are precision ground to size, cutting the frame rails for chain-run would be the better way to do it. If you don't want that, you could still fit an intermediate s...

Wow, just appreciate the shiny-ness of those adapters... would there be enough meat for some countersunk bolts that would probably be the icing on the cake...

I've used to run EBC Sintered HH and have to say, except for the spongy feel of those old brakes, they were suddenly on par when it comes to stopping power with the new stuff, e.g. Tokico 6-pots. Now I've converted a set of twin-pot floating calipers, but really just for the brake being more control...

Not sure whether the CSR has the J-style rubber mounts, but if it does, get rid of them and fit solid bungs, the rubber will be just like that (i.e. hard as a rock) but without a proper fit. Makes it easier to knock up plates as well.

Any particular model i should look for Greg? They're all pretty much the same, among the newer ones only the colour and bed length vary. If I were you, I'd have a look at http://www.arceurotrade.co.uk as they have the classic mini-lathe (must be the 7x12) on sale for 380 GBP. (Don't even think abou...

Unimat is pretty much too small for anything. Get a minilathe, small enough to fit in even the smallest, but big enough to get small jobs done.

(Oh and normally you can sell them, for the same money, you bought them for - or more...)

Cheers,
Greg

I'll have to concede at this point , you've got me beaten with the Jawa's  Isn't it amazing what a bit of despair in terms of not being able to ride a bike in Winter can make of you ? I have an MZ250 ETZ Roughly the best two wheels that ever came from behind the iron curtain. I loved mine ever...
