Re: Cat and Fiddle Ride take 2

It's just that a couple of times I've seen someone at the side of the road take pictures of passing traffic and wondered why. Thanks Kev

Re: Dyna Coils and Leads ???

My j has 1170 kit, hot cams, gsxr1100 carbs and other tuning work all done in 1985, and ran perfectly fine on original coils until I stopped riding it about 15 years ago. Just refurbished the bike and put dyna coils on and can't tell any difference (not that you really would). Time will tell how rel...

Re: Cat and Fiddle Ride take 2

One of my favourite rides. I was there on Friday on my J and called into Winkle brewery for a swift half of shandy, surrounding roads towards the leek side are great as well.

Like you said, not everyone's cup of tea, but what a great thing to have in the garage, and a great conversation piece.

If it's just the threads that are an issue they should be easily repairable. There are some good inserts about nowadays and most engineering firms will do them for you. Much better than Helicoils.

My mate had one in red in the late 80s and it was a great bike.
A bike in that condition shouldn't have any difficulty in selling.

Re: New Member

Lovely bikes the A2's especially in that colour. I agree with philippe about upgrading the front brakes as my A2 had twin discs from new so it wouldn't look like a modification.

Really lovely looking bike, I'd say that's a lot better than just a clean and tidy ridable bike. Like other have said would look good on the stafford stand.

Re: How to change to historic vehicle status

As Keith said it very much depends on the post master, we are very lucky to have 2 very good post mistresses in 2 different post offices. I've done 2 bikes just off the V5. The only thing that caught me out was that she said we could tax the bike there and then. I hadn't realised that you still taxe...

Yep ,I didn't know until I watched that program. Apparently about 6 years since it closed as a pub. Supposedly the highest distillery in the uk now, doesn't really count though as it's gin not whisky, that honour goes to Dalwhinnie in Scotland.

Re: Cable tie method for changing shims?

My dad made me this one in 1979 for my A2 and I am still using it on my J2. My local kawasaki dealer loaned me one and dad took it to work without telling me and came home with 2.

Re: Cat and fiddle ride.

I think that was when MCN called it the best motorcycling road in the uk and everyone suddenly decided to use it as a race track leading to multiple deaths. Now it is average speed cameras but 50mph is enough through most of the bendy bits.

Cat and fiddle ride.

I was at the Cat and fiddle on the J last weekend (was the highest pub that stayed open all year round). Great ride and the bike rode faultlessly. I'm just starting to get confident about its reliability and getting further from home. I still have the old brittle wiring loom on and like to know the ...
