Re: Another 650 for me

As usual, I'm not prioritising things like checking the engine's condition (there is an alternative if it's junk...) but I wanted to tidy up my garage by using some spare parts I had laying around, so got the GSX-R 1000K4 bottom yoke sorted with a 20mm spacer welded into the stem...

Re: Another 650 for me

With a bit of part-swapping going on between projects, I have a set of GSX-R 1000K4 forks spare, along with a K4 bottom yoke and a one-off top yoke. The forks and wheel in the bike when I got it were, I think, GSX 600F, and they're okay for a 650cc Zed, but given that I have the other stuff... well....

Re: Another 650 for me

I've not had it running yet, or done a compression test but have turned it over on the kickstarter, so there is some compression... 'some'... :D The battery is fubar'd, so that's on the list, but might whip one off another bike to see if it'll fire up. But that'll be a job for a day when there's mor...

Re: Another 650 for me

Slowly but surely I'm finding more issues, and also overcoming a few along the way too. I've done very little, constructively, just the odd bit of tinkering here and there, just five or ten minutes at a time and sussing out the extra bits that I need to source. It now has flat drag bars fitted, a ne...

Re: Another 650 for me

Thanks gents! The swinging arm is a JMC, spec as was available in the '80s, but probably looks bigger due to the shortened seat / lack of exhaust can etc. And, looking at my pic in the first post, the colour seems a bit weird as it's actually bright orange, and not the muddy pink that it looks. Whee...

Another 650 for me

A recent purchase from a good friend, with the potential to make it into the Z650 that I have always wanted thanks to another friend, although it'll probably be run pretty much as is if I manage to pull my finger out before this summer. z6501.jpg As you can see, it's far from standard, but along the...

Re: Z650 refresh...

Finally got sorted with a pair of cables to suit the throttle assembly and Mikuni carb, thanks to Carrot Cycles in Lincoln.

Re: GPz750A3 Unitrak

Yes Chris, there are a fair few 'that'll do' bits on it, hoping that I can sort those out over time and it'll get better, piece by piece...

Re: GPz750A3 Unitrak

While there are various areas that are in need of attention - the tank is scabby, the pipe needs attention, the aftermarket short mudguard is cracked etc - the intention is to just get it up and running, MoT'd and used to see how it is first before spending much time and effort on making it look pre...

Re: Z650 refresh...

The rear brake's clear brake line hose had gone really manky, despite it apparently being pukka Hodna HRC stuff, and it's leaked some fluid out onto the master cylinder, so it was all taken off, cleaned up, repainted and fitted with some properly pukka 2375 Tygon that is allegedly impervious to brak...

Brilliant, thanks JB! I'll be over at some point to collect ;-) and if you do find a front subframe, that'd be even more awesomer...

GPz750 Unitrak fairing

As it says, I'm after a fairing for a GPZ750 Unitrak, no light or the inner plastics required, although a fairing subframe would be a bonus.
