Re: Z900 A4 fuel leak any ideas please?
Afternoon Guys, Firstly let me start by saying a big thank you to all who contributed in helping me solve the original leak issue, it proved to be poorly made pattern parts. I ended up buying full new Keyster gasket kits from Nigel and replaced everything from the kit, this cured the overflowing car...

Re: z1000 a1 splitting rear calliper
When i rebuilt my Suzuki GT750 had same problem with the brake allen bolts too, i found an air windy gun ( impact type) or even the battery type invaluable it undoing subborn bolts. If the heat doesnt work try one of those, just make sure you have the correct size allen key bit and its impact suitab...

Re: Size of main fuse
There are 2 similar posts, i replied to the other one, as also had blowing 20a main fuse on my A4, however it coincided with faulty voltage reg ( 15.7v) which i replaced with combined unit and that seemed to stop issue, however it may well be attributed to short on headlight bowl, no idea if mine or...

Re: Z900 A4 fuel leak any ideas please?
Hi Al thanks for reply in answer to your Qs yes peg in crankshaft is original and looks to be not bent, yes the advancer has the 2 what look like magnets on the weights still intact. To be honest if you look at my photo it looks in a lot better condition then the 1 in your photo. But mine has 005 st...

Re: Z900 A4 fuel leak any ideas please?
Been at it again today, spoke at length with Warren re lineing up the points, mine just refuses point blank to line up as it should, Firstly set the points gap at 0.4mm, then bulb across Earth and the points spring part, turn engine over using spanner, if i set the left hand set ie 1 and 4 i can get...

Re: Size of main fuse
Thats correct 20amp is right size of main fuse. Mine kept blowing the main fuse on my A4, turns out voltage reg was faulty allowing 15+v bought a new combined unit problem sorted. Well worth checking with a decent volt meter. Another issue may be a short to earth, as other reply you need to give mor...

Re: Z900 A4 fuel leak any ideas please?
Hi Guys well removed timing cam plate as Gray suggested checked For marks as per photo (Is this advancer the correct part for Z900 A4?), nothing on mine at all there is a dot but nothing to line it with on cam, the cam is free to fit in either position which is strange, however as i have no idea if ...

Re: Z900 A4 or Z1 or even Z1000 Document tray rubber handle
As header now says almost sorted, have the tray and the sticker just missing rubber pull handle now, Adrian thought he had one but despite a good rummage was unable to find it, so if anyone has a used rubber handle, (not even bothered if its a repo) as long as im able to pull tray out, please let me...

Re: Z900 A4 fuel leak any ideas please?
Yes will do 1.5 turns out was what it originally was set too, but the low speed running is crap. However i will do static timing as thats clearly an issue and worst with new plate in place which doesnt make sense. I will report findings, just thinking what a prev post said that if bob weight springs...

Re: Z900 A4 fuel leak any ideas please?
Hi Warren to be honest if you read my original post, think they all did, i really struggled as have very little in the way of nails and my fingers quite large, if i remember rightly think i did the centre 2 pistons 1st supporting them on 2 wooden blocks to stop them moving and lowering the barrells ...

Re: Z900 A4 fuel leak any ideas please?
Thanks Warren that makes sense now, mine are the screws on the side rather then underneath so easy to access, if its running lean screws nead to be in more then , i turned them wrong way made it weaker no wonder it wouldnt run, will re try tomorrow and have a go at static timing. I would really like...

Re: Z900 A4 fuel leak any ideas please?
Thats a great drawing Warren and shows the circuit clearly the only thing is as both leads are unmarked and same length how do you know which is which, ie 1 will be the + side the other the - side, guess try both or flip the pickup. To answer Als question yes the strobe has a pickup. As for the airs...

Re: Z900 A4 fuel leak any ideas please?
Thanks for reply, yes think your right as only started popping cap off after id set timing with strobe, silly thing is it was really retarded before. The aim is to get the 2 marks 2 line up with the strobe flickering ie on 1 and 4 you want the F mark to align with the case mark (assume it doesnt mat...

Re: Z900 A4 fuel leak any ideas please?
Hi Gray, thanks for reply, yes thats what im hoping for too. Thought with all the knowledge and expertise on the forum someone could give me a definitive answer but maybe too many variables?. I know its a case of eliminating issues 1 at a time but where to start. As you say dont particularly want to...
