Re: Front Wheel Slightly Offset to the Offside

Disregard. Think I have now found out how to shift the wheel sideways by spindle adjusters. Unfortunately, have a slight buckle, so off to the wheel rebuilders it goes….

Front Wheel Slightly Offset to the Offside

Chaps

My front tyre is rubbing the mudguard slightly on the offside (it has the correct width tyre fitted), and I have noticed on close inspection that the wheel is offset in the forks very slightly. Wondered if this was common, or if a spacer has been misplaced.

Re: Any Electrics Experts

Very wise words, and easy for me to swap in; thanks. Just come back from first shakedown ride. Happy to report smooth running throughout the rev range, no smell of electrical components heating unduly, and loom routing remains away from any hot engine parts. All in all, a fairly happy bunny. Just a ...

Re: Any Electrics Experts

Hi All Having modified the loom to feed the coils direct from battery via a relay, and having replaced a coil that had a dodgy positive terminal, my problems of rough running seem to be cured. Here's hoping......but awaiting the next minor snag to raise its head soon - the joys of running classic ve...

Re: Any Electrics Experts

Reading your post their are several possibilities. Firstly assume your turning the ignition on and watching the idiot lights on battery only, when you turn cut off to run they dim, thats normal as your adding extra load of the coils onto the circuit. You say the voltage drops to 10v, is this at the...

Re: Any Electrics Experts

Thanks. I’m going to try the direct feed to coils via relay mod first, and invest in a new battery (one was fitted last year, but potentially goosed by the duff T/R setup).

Any Electrics Experts

Hi All I wonder if a chap far wiser than me can help on a 1976 900A4 electrical problem: I noticed that the idiot lights dimmed whenever I selected run on the right switchgear. Further, the neutral light gets brighter after engine start with higher revs (despite a new replacement regulator/rectifier...

Re: Help Identifying Electrical Part

I'm very grateful for the Cabal's knowledge. Saved me scratching my head for a considerable while. At least I have now identified the poor connection which is causing such a voltage drop on the sub-loom to the bars/headlight. Despite the plug appearing in good order, and despite using copious quanti...

Help Identifying Electrical Part

Just trying to sort my electrics, and noticed a part unplugged from the loom. The part resides on a rubber mount under the nearside coil. It looks fairly manky so probably needs replacement. Only wrinkle is that the bike has been converted to electronic ignition if that makes a difference to needing...

Voltage at Battery z900A4

Chaps Having checked the voltage at my battery terminals through a range of engine speeds, I was surprised to note it reads 15.7V at 3500 rpm. Normally, I would suspect a dodgy regulator, but I note (from the Haynes manual) that the Z regulator limits voltage to 15-16V. Before I replace, could I ask...
