Re: Z900 A4 fuel leak any ideas please?

The cracked overflow pipe sounds bizarre but I experienced this issue some years ago on my Z1R. Not sure what causes it - maybe vibration / stress. In the end I acquired a new float bowl through Dave Marsden. (Although I also bought most of the carburettor that went with it.) If it is a cracked pipe...

Re: Z1 1973

The early Z1's to my eyes are one of those rare things that was 'right' from the word go and from any angle very difficult to see anything that could be improved upon. The fact that it was the fastest thing around at the time and not exactly a slouch today is the icing on the cake. Very nice.

Re: Z1000 A2 fuel tap

About 10 years ago I had a similar issue with the vacuum tap on my A2. As well as complete fuel taps (which do seem very expensive) Pingel make an adapter plate that once fitted, allows use of a regular type (on off reserve) tap from an A1. So I went for that option. Your solution looks good though-...

Re: Project Tetanus - H1 500 - Never Again

Looks really nice. It should go quite nicely too. My 400 has been in what I keep thinking is the final stages of completion for over a year! Hopefully it will see the light of day this year - fingers crossed. Well done on yours - it was worth all the perseverance.

Re: Z1000a2 mag wheels.

I think Garry is correct that (possibly the Henry Abe type) mags were a factory option.
Having owned a Z1R the only thing I would say about that style of wheel is they are significantly heavier than spoke wheels.

Re: Best re-lining prducts for my tank

Yes Stu it was indeed- especially as I had just had the tank painted! - and frustratingly the remedies that sound most plausible that I have seen are pretty much all going to entail sacrificing the paintwork. For the time being I shall just own it as a work of art as the paint job is great!!

Re: Best re-lining prducts for my tank

From the dozens of reviews / comments on the web there seems to be 2 categories of POR15 users - those that it works for and those that it does not. Unfortunately this year I fall into the latter category when used on an S3 tank. Apart from the 70% or so of the liner that delaminated I cannot find a...

Re: Throttle cables - do you oil?

I always oil new cables - I suspect they come with protective coating of some kind but the additional oil seems to help. I used engine oil for years but recently have been using bicycle chain oil (with a teflon component) which seems to work well. I have also found 'Slinky Glide' cables to be smooth...

Re: Out for quick road test

Yes I was lucky the previous owners had looked after it well! - in fact this weekend just gone I took the bike down to visit family friends in Wiltshire so it is definitely getting some miles on it this year.

Looks great and should sell at that price.
The blue z1b version always look good and to my eyes is the epitome of a cool 70's bike.
