V55/5 Type approval??
I have everything ready for getting UK reg for 1976 Z900 US import (inc dating letter) but not sure what to enter for type approval on the V55/5. It does ask if its exempt from type approval and to state full reason for exemption. Were these ever type approved if so what is it or do i just state the...

Re: Z1R oil cooler
Larger main jet may have been fitted due to exhaust and if air filter has been removed with velocity stacks fitted. You might want to check if air corrector jets have been fitted to carbs on the side of air filter, search on here for air corrector jets for more info. I dont know what marks Z1R cams ...

Re: Z1R oil cooler
Oil coolers were often fitted with engine mods such as bigger and or high compression pistons with hot cams which can increase engine temps. When bored out to about 1050 or 1100 for example with standard liners they get a little thin so dont dissipate heat quite as well. If stripping engine would be...

There are different lengths of clutch cable depending on the type and rise of your handle bars.
Do you have cable runnung up between headlamp ears?.

Re: Dyna coils help?
Did you short the probes together first before measuring to get 0 ohms as leads and connections can make a difference to readings at low ohm measurments though they normally add a little due to small resistance on connections and leads.

Re: Z1000st won't idle below 2500rpm
20 years is a long time to have been standing.
Does adding choke make any difference.
Some idle fuel/airways could have been gummed up by stale evoparated fuel. Were the carbs ultra sonic cleaned with all jets and air screws out.

Re: Bike Z900 A4 not running correctly (Still)
I always time mine on full advance as this is where engine spends most of the time. To me its more accurate and stable strobing at full advance rarther than tick over.

Re: Clicking around the rear of the bike
How often and when does it click?
Every revolution of wheel, going over bumps pot holes etc, cranked over round bends?
Could put it on main stand start engine and put into gear to hear it

Re: KZ900 carb help
First thing i would do with any rough running is check/set points gap if it has any then strobe timing, its all quick and easy and should be done before messing with carbs. Farting through carbs could be due to valve clearance. I had slight farting/sneezing issue with no. 4 carb and gap was .02mm in...

Re: Z1000st rusty tank
My z900 import tank was qute rusty inside as bike must have been standing for many years as it was all quite a state. I put about 20 or so nuts inside from m10 to m6 and gently moved it backwards and forwards upside down etc which scraped loads of rust off, tank was dry, used air line to blow loads ...

Re: Z1000 A2 seat
There is a complete catch kit specially for this, some on ebay for about £30 and z-power also have them. Quite easy to fit just double check when marking and drilling holes, catch plate has elongated holes to adjust aligment so U catch fits in lock ok.
