Hi
I may have found a way of getting the silencer repaired so I might only need to find a somewhere that will do the chroming.
It seems that a lot of companies are reluctant to chrome silencers as they pollute their chemical tanks.
Does anyone know a place that will chrome silencers.
Cheers Peter

Z1R silencer repair and re-chroming
Hi all
Does anyone know where I can get a small dent in a silencer repaired and then re-chromed.
I live in Essex but will post to a company that is recommended.
Cheers Peter.

Z1R colour of wheels
Hi all I’m hoping someone can help me with paint finish. The bikes previous owner painted the wheels gold which I want to get back to the original colours. The edge of the spokes and rim look like bear metal, would this have been lacquered or left polished. The rest of the wheel looks black or very ...

Thanks for your replies.
I have gone for Avon Roadriders with tubes, £231 inc postage from Demon Tweeks.

Re: Z1R inner tubes
Sorry guys just seen that the rear wheel has got two bead clamps so would have to have a tube. I’ll put one in the front as well, I guess this might effect my tyre choice.

Z1R inner tubes
Hi all
In the parts book and manual it says I should fit inner tubes in the tyres on my Z1R, did they find the wheels are porous or is there another reason for this.
Cheers Peter

Re: Z1R oil cooler
Thanks Al
Good thinking, I’ll do that.
Deliberating whether to get the frame painted, it’s a bit tatty in places and I think I might regret it if I dont, bigger job than I intended, engine out etc, but my time is cheap, still deliberating.
Cheers

Re: Z1R oil cooler
Hello All So far so good, I fitted the carbs without the air box and it started second push on the button, number two cylinder backfiring through the carb with a visual air leak between the head and the inlet rubber. A bit concerned about the oil pressure showing a max of 15psi but a look in the man...

Re: Z1R oil cooler
Thanks A1
I think that’s what I’m going to do.
I’ve fitted the new pressure switch pipe.
Refit the carbs and see if I can get it running, if it runs and sounds okay I’ll finish the restoration and ride it to see if it has an overheating problem.

Thanks Zed9.
I’ll keep this thread posted as I dig deeper but, I hope I don’t have to go to far into the engine.

Re: Z1R oil cooler
Hi Zed9 Interesting, I’ve stripped the carbs and re-jetted them back to standard. The previous owner had fitted a 120 main jet, other than that, the jets were stock. The only obvious mod is the straight through exhaust which I don’t think would warrant such a large main jet, would a big bore convers...

The previous owner must have fitted the part from a later model.
Do you know where I might be able get the part from.
Cheers Peter
