Small hacksaw blade and tiny file worked a treat thanks. Now snug fit and no movement. Also thanks for the additional info on the gear selectors. Great support.

Supplementary question please. The on line manual says not to remove the shift rod more than 40mm out of its home position as the shift or the shift forks inside the gearbox will fall to the bottom of the pan necessitating removal of the oil pan.
