Thanks for that I was thinking the same, Might be worth looking for a second hand gear box before I strip it.
What year of Zs have the same gearbox ?

5th gear whine
My Z1B has always had a whine in 5th gear ever since I have owned it, I am thinking of removing the engine over winter and sorting it out, Is it likely to be the gears or the bearings?

Alternator wiring loom
Going to replace the alternator wiring loom and grommet with a new one from Z power, but I am a bit confused about the connections at the alternator the original wires are pink yellow and blue but the new ones are all yellow. Does this mean it doesn't matter which yellow wire wire goes where ?

Head Gasket
Just been out for a run on the Z1b with a rebuilt engine, noticed oil weeping from the head gasket joint at the front LH side, I tried Re torquing the head but no luck, should I have had the head skimmed before re build or maybe used gasket sealer on the head gasket. Thanks for any advice
