Looks brilliant.

Did you remove the small brackets on the frame down tubes which the reflectors screw in to for US models , or don't the UK models have these?

Looks like a sound project bike. As long as all the moving parts are oiled and greased and the engine and brakes are set up properly, the bit of surface rust shouln't make any difference.
Good luck.

I've got hold of some decent selector forks from a z1000 and all new gaskets . I'm hoping to remove the sump and change the selector forks very soon. Been held up by the fact that I've lost the use of my workshop and I'm having to work in a cramped space in my backyard.

Simon, I've collected loads of 70's aftermarket bits which I intend to stick on then 900 so it won't be reverting to standard. The bike is an early Z900 A4 (206 th) off the production line and was purchased in Texas in 1998 when I got carried away and ended up buying a container of 40 70's bikes! Th...

A bit of progress. The original petrol tank turned out to be truly horrible when the paint was stripped. Fotunately managed to acquire a decent one from a saviour on this site. Pics of the old tank. http://i42.photobucket.com/albums/e311/lmcc2008/001-7.jpg http://i42.photobucket.com/albums/e311/lmcc...

Still desperately seeking a decent tank for a z900 A4 or Z1000 A1. I have stripped the paint of my z900 tank and the damn thing is full of filler where someone has deliberately dented in the badge fixing mounts and used filler to smooth over.
I am happy to pay any reasonble amount for a decent tank.
