Thanks Warren, was about to buy one then realised that there was a helicoil in the plug hole that had partially removed itself as the plug was unscrewed.

Here are the points wires down in the casing, green and white visible and so is black. Am assuming that the green feeds the white wire so does the points white connect to coil orange / white wire or coil black / yellow wire which I thought was earth?

That BLACK/YELLOW wire should be an earth for something. DO NOT connect it to that starter motor relay in your picture unless you are certain what it is for !!
