With the service that Rob Meggit offers with the choke plungers that should be the starting point once the carbs have been cleaned.

Re: Z900 A4 Starting( or not) for 1st time after full restoration

Prove that the fuel cap is venting by opening it and then opening the fuel tap, a blocked vent hole in the cap is a common problem.

Re: Z1 1973

Under the cap should be a black rubber gaiter type seal and the associated white plastic retainer between the seal and the underside of the cap.
All good on the master cylinder now!!

Re: Z1 1973

The plastic body looks longer than standard, like the cap isn’t screwed right home but I may be wrong??
Can someone else confirm!!
I will look at mine more closely at the weekend.

Re: Z1 1973

Have the throttle cables got 2 different part numbers on them, the correct items should be: 54012-087 and 54012-081.
There are longer items available but I believe they are pattern parts.

Re: Z1 1973

Can you please take a pic from the front of the unit.
I'm just comparing it to Bedlow's in his photo.

Re: Z1 1973

The brake master cylinder could be from a later model, a close up photo would confirm.

Re: Z1 1973

Excellent bike and the paintwork looks original as the lining is correct at the front and rear of the tank, correct green too. Even the likes of Doremi and PMC can't quite get the lining right. The only painter in the UK who seemed to understand the lining was Hutch, see the green/yellow Z1 that he ...

Re: 72 Z1 for sale-comments gents.

For that price you would expect a correct original ignition switch, the orange lining at the rear of the tank comes down to the end at the wrong angle which nearly all painters can't get right, the mirrors are the later model.

Re: Z900 A4 Strange gearbox issue, anyone help?

Where is the striker on the change drum when in neutral between 1st and 2nd gear, is it touching the little plunger on the neutral switch? If you remove the neutral switch from the transmission cover with neutral selected and look into the hole you should seen the indent on the change drum if its fi...

Has anyone got a good source for that O ring, I have a NOS European spec Z1 master cylinder that has a weep from the joint between the plastic and main body.

Good to see one that's close to original and not covered in pattern parts.

Re: Z1 disc grinding

You can try Coventry Boring but specify that the surface needs to be as smooth as possible from the grinding process otherwise you will encounter brake chatter from braking at speed.
