Re: Z1R inner tubes
Hi Peter; There are different rim profiles on alloy bike wheels - one for tubeless tyres, one for tubed. The Z1R rims are not profiled to hold a tubeless tyre securely, so tubes are needed to keep all that lovely air inside. You don't need a tyre specifically designed for tubes - you can run 'tubele...

Re: Carb drain screw rubbers and cam end seals.
Hi Ian;
Both available from ZPower. Search for cam end plug and o ring, take your pick of the results! I've got the black PMC billet plugs on mine, put a smear of liquid gasket or similar round the rim when fitting for leak-free happiness.

Z1R luggage rack
Folks; Bit of a long shot (actually it'd probably set a new world record for a shot) but looking for a tail luggage rack for a Z1R, or even a diagram/build sheet for one. Why (oh why, oh why...) they had to make the frame just slightly, but significantly, different is right up there in the list of t...

Re: Front brake lever not firm air trapped ?
Hello mate; Sounds like there's still a bit of air in there somewhere - shifting the last bit can be a pain after a full refill. First suggestion would be to pull the lever back to the bar and hold it there with a bungee/tiewrap and leave it overnight - any air in the system should(!) rise to the hi...

Re: KZ900 carb help
Hello mate; bit of a late reply, but re. your rev hang mentioned in post #75 - I had the same after a carb rebuild and that was down to a slightly weak mixture. All came good after tweaking the air mixture screws in a bit and the problem went away.

Re: Wiring guru help please!
Hello mate; Agree it should be the Euro version, but that doesn't particularly help if the wire colours that have been used aren't the originals (and it looks like they aren't). The blu-white from the loom (B) is also part of the lighting circuit and looks like it takes the feed from the headlight s...

Re: Wiring guru help please!
Hello mate; Wiring - gotta love it! Z900A4 not my model, but I have had a look at the wiring diagram, and looks like the blue from the LH switches (E) should connect to the blue female (A). This looks to be marked as the dimmer switch circuit; can you see if the loom wire has a resistor a little fur...

Re: KZ900 carb help
Hello mate; As zed1015 says, no air correctors. For ref, mine's a Z1R so 1015cc, Delkevic 4-1 and K&Ns (so not a million miles from yours), and had correctors fitted since forever with various different 4-1 exhausts with good results. If you can get hold of some (there seem to be options in the ...

Re: KZ900 carb help
Hello mate; One more thought - the bike is now out at 1015, has been running a non-standard airbox and has a Delkevic fitted (all done prior to your ownership?). Have the carbs had an air corrector kit fitted to help deal with all the changes - if not that could be the cause of the rich running on/o...

Re: Z900 A4 fuel leak any ideas please?
Hello mate - quite the week you're having! Lots of good advice already re. timing settings. Like the rest, I'd be leaning towards it still being a timing issue; you were definitely going in the right direction until you retimed it, when things started to go backwards again. I agree with r3sc - forge...
Re: BS 34's
Yes, opening the throttle will help spin the engine marginally easier - it's taking less effort to drag air through the carbs. Unless you're absolutely drowning the chambers in petrol though, it won't affect the plugs. If there's plenty of fuel then sparks are what's needed. I would agree that an in...
Re: BS 34's
Hello mate; As Al says, If it's all or nothing then I's be looking somewhere else than carbs for the problem - I'd expect the bike to at least be trying to fire if it was a shortage of/too much fuel getting through. Also, you say the bike was hard to start before the carb shenanigans and irrespectiv...

Re: Z900 A4 fuel leak any ideas please?
Graham; Attached are pics of the relevant section from the workshop manual for carb syncing. The pics also show you where the damper valves go. Ignore the brass pipes that came with the kit, you don't need them. Cut the rubber pipes that you have a shortish distance from one end. Attach the short bi...

Re: Z900 A4 fuel leak any ideas please?
Hi Graham; Re. your problem with flickering needles on your gauges - did your set come with a set of damper valves? They look like T-pieces but have a small wheel on them. They fit in-line on each of the lines between the carb and your gauges (you will have to cut the lines at a suitable point to fi...
