z1A was the last to have a chain pump,a4 always never had one...

David,if they are originals,may be some wear to the needle jets,not the main jets that screw into emulsification tubes,does it make any difference if you lower the needle?what notch is needle on?.flat spot you describe sounds like transition stage from pilot to main system.

David ,i have noticed the profile of some aftermarket needles is very different to the standard ones what do you have?,also did you change the needle jets?that press into the body that the needles go into? just a thought..Paul j

Agm batteries do tend to totally fail,not like the old lead acid types which fade gradually.

I use a piece of heavy planking with a holes to alllow for filter and sump nut,use ordinary trolley jack to ease bike up till back wheel touches the deck,strap to garage roof to stabilze,or i use a quad jack with a couple of u shaped timbers under the bottom rails.

My turn today David... A Few miles out on the 400 and she dropped the middle pot. Usual checks point to the coil pack which ain't available pattern. So it's take my chances via the usual suspects :( Get shut of all your old unreliable classics and buy yourself one of those nice new modern reliable ...
