Re: Cleaning Main & Pilot jets (Z1 )

Hold them up to a strong light,t should look like a spiders web shape inside the pilots due to side holes, main jets should be a clear hole, dont be tempted to use any hard object to poke clear as are easily damaged, ultrasonic cleaning is best.

Re: Airbox to carb inlet rubber

It is possible, easier to do centre ones first as long as new and pliable, get them over carb inlet first then use long blunt small tyre levers to get into airbox, note centre ones are diff to the outers.

Re: Z1a Chain Oiler Pump

cancunia wrote:The oil in the pump probably helps to lube the pump itself, so I'd say don't run it without oil. I've never worked out why my A4 came without the pump but it seems ok without it, just need to lube the chain directly.

z1A was the last to have a chain pump,a4 always never had one...

Re: Carb jets and needles

David,if they are originals, may be some wear to the needle jets, not the main jets that screw into emulsification tubes, does it make any difference if you lower the needle?what notch is needle on?.flat spot you describe sounds like transition stage from pilot to main system.

Re: Carb jets and needles

David ,i have noticed the profile of some aftermarket needles is very different to the standard ones what do you have?,also did you change the needle jets?that press into the body that the needles go into? just a thought..Paul j

Re: A4 Front Wheel removal

I use a piece of heavy planking with a holes to alllow for filter and sump nut,use ordinary trolley jack to ease bike up till back wheel touches the deck, strap to garage roof to stabilze,or i use a quad jack with a couple of u shaped timbers under the bottom rails.
