Re: Smethurst Engine Clean

I am probably "teaching grannie to suck eggs here" but if you replace the guides, would you also need to recut the seats? Could you not remove and reuse the offending guides, carefully marking the rotational angle first so they go back at the right angle?

That's a real bummer, I don't like to see anyone struggle like that. I am sure you will have the good times rolling again soon.

Re: Smethurst Engine Clean

Good advise. I wonder how many have rebuilt engines with blast media in the journals, threads etc

Will they blow out with compressed air?

I am not really sure why you would need to go that hot. Personally, I would not risk it.

Re: Plugs!

I know they do :) THIS is why they are called projected nose ..... and why you should not use them unless recommended for the motor in question. (well not unless you are after lightening the piston crown at least) https://i.imgur.com/BMzewo0.jpg That cleared that up :D

Re: Plugs!

Heat range aside, I would be more concerned about the projected nose of the BP6ES making contact with the top of the pistons. Uncertain if it actually reaches further into the combustion chamber but it would certainly need investigating. King of kings, why are you thinking of changing from standard?

Re: Plugs!

The "P" just means the inner electrode is a bit longer which helps to prevent fouling. B6 is a lot hotter than the original B8ES. NGK suggest going one hotter to B7ES to compensate for the softer riding style of classic bikes and cooler burning characteristics of modern ethanol fuel. I wou...

Re: Pan Head shoulder screw

Thanks guys. Some responses: Z1bman - it looks as if someone had beaten me to it, using a similar shoulder screw to the one you identified; CompoZ1R - thanks. I missed that when I googled for that part earlier on. Now ordered and despatched. Zedhead - the 12mm hits the outer face of the headlight r...

Re: Z1000J Build

So I think the carriers are good, just need new discs, but I don't really want to be taking them off and waiting for ages for new ones to be made at this time of year or I'll miss the week of summer in Scotland! Lol. If someone had KipKawa's drawings then that would be a hit so I could get them man...

Great pictures guys.

Still not sure about the H2 styling. Why do Kawasaki put extended rear plate brackets on I don't understand? RS is the same.
