Re: Worn or Worn Out?

It's difficult to tell from the photo but I'd guess there's an imperfection in the hardening causing the the surface to break up.
Either way, you need a fresh one.
And if the corresponding output gear shows any ware marks l'd replace it as well.

Re: Advice please

They both have dowels in them. The book calls them 'Knock Pins' and they serve to locate the gasket and sump.
The front has a long bolt through it.
The rear drains oil from the crank case breather.

Re: GPZ1100 Frame

It's not easy. I had the same idea with a Unitrak frame but when I positioned the Z900 crankcases in the frame it was obvious it was going to be a challenge. So I gave up but someone on here has done it. The front mount is way off and needs repositioning as I recall. Here's the project http://z1owne...

Carb cable bracket

This is probably a bit of a long shot but I need a cable bracket for a set of vm26 carbs. The set I have came from an early GS850 where the push cable mount is a good 15 to 20mm higher. As a result either the inner cable needs to be longer or the outer needs to be shorter by the same amount. This is...

Re: Thread pitch

From memory.
M10 x 1.5 (standard or course) into the cases.
M10 x 1.25 (metric fine) for the nut.

Starter Motor Clutch

Does anyone have a starter motor clutch?
I need everything between the alternator rotor and the starter motor it’s self. The clutch assembly, large clutch gear, idler gear and shaft.

Where in the UK can I get replacement clutch damper springs?

Also, does anyone have a clutch hub removal tool I could borrow?

Oil filter pressure bypass valve – spring

Having cleaned out all the screw threads and oil passageways I started to assemble my engine. The first thing to go in was the aforementioned valve and I decided to wash out the pump to filter passageway just in case there might be some cleaning medium or 50k miles worth of sludge left in the blind ...

Back in the 80s I ran Pirelli Phantoms and Metzeler Perfects. They were great to start with but after about 1000 miles they would setup a wobble at 100+ that I didn’t have the balls to ride through. Today I’m on Avon Roadrider’s and the same thing is happening. Some non Z riders have suggested...
