Re: Oil drain bolt won't budge.

Try a squirt/ soak of penetrating oil while you are waiting to have another go.
It's probably not gonna get in but you never know and it is cheap enough if you have some around.
It certainly won't make it any worse.
Good luck with the extraction !!

Re: Gone To The Dark Side

Nice one Steve, I did a photo story for a Z1-R strip & rebuild if you need any reference pics/ info. http://www.zedrider.co.uk/z1-r.html all pics enlarge if you click them. I'm a bit partial to the orange side reflectors on the frame tubes myself, and I like the USA style indicators at the back....

especially on the white lettering, or engine casings (where the edges are raised to keep paint inside) - don't feel obliged to use a brush to get the paint in. I tend to go for cocktail stick or wooden BBQ skewer with pointed end. As long as the badge is off the bike and flat the paint will settle f...

New Z900 rs Cafe Racer Video (official)

The original Z1 café racer was the Z1-R. Don't see much styling taken from that into this one. http://i816.photobucket.com/albums/zz82/pertonpc/Items%20for%20Sale/z900rs-cafe-statics-6-770x578_zpsv7j3qswj.jpg http://i816.photobucket.com/albums/zz82/pertonpc/Items%20for%20Sale/z900rs-cafe-action-imag...

Re: help

Gravity fuel tap is best turned off when bike not running - more prone to leaks than later vacuum taps. Someone gave me a tip to turn the tap off a little while before you park up in garage - to let it drain the bowls a bit. If it is just weeping from one or more carb overflow pipes and not all it i...

Re: Engine Installation

Hi Paul, I found it easier to get the main stand and brake pedal installed before the swing arm went on. The main stand can come up a bit higher and the spring is not such a bitch to stretch into place. Likewise there is a danger you will mark the frame finish if you are fitting the brake lever retu...

Re: Oil Overfilled

Best not to run these old motors with too much oil in. It will tend to force the excess out via the crank breather system I would guess. Symptom of that would be wet oil in base of a standard air box. Always fill mine lower than full mark and leave to stand overnight before trying to get a final lev...
