Re: Front Forks too stiff
According to the KHI shop manual the lengths are correct and in spec for a Z1B Standard = 505.5mm Service limit = 495.5mm Oil volume = 170cc per leg Start by changing the oil for SAE 10w and see how it goes. Don't just add 170cc per leg (thats just how much you need available), add oil until the lev...

Valve Clearance Queries
I've done this job many times on my Z900A4 and never really questioned the info in the shop manual before but having read the tutorial under "Members Technical" plus a whole host of other posts which have included this subject I have a couple of queries:- When did the specified clearance c...

Cam Chain Link Options
I know there have been several cam chain posts recently but... My new DID 219T cam chain has arrived with two different DID links The link on the right was inside the box with the chain. The plate is an interference fit onto the pins so will require pressing into place. As the pins are not shouldere...

David, resurrecting your old post as I'm currently facing the same dilemma.
How did you resolve closing the cam chain rivet link?
Was it successful?
Thanks,
Andy

Thanks for the replies.
I've gone for the Keyster pattern one's with the viton seals from AVC.
(Ordered via ebay before I read the above reply)

Cam Chain Rivet Tool
In need of a cam chain rivet tool but will probably only ever use it once. Is this likely to be suitable for 219T, or at that price will it be made of cheese? https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/143586148349?_trkparms=amclksrc%3DITM%26aid%3D111001%26algo%3DREC.SEED%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D20211130125621%26meid%3Dba...

Carb Fuel Tee Pieces
Currently have the carbs off and now notice that there are small cracks in the rubber on the fuel tee pieces between the carb pairs (part 16046-002) They probably still seal but I think they need changing. So, Kawasaki genuine ones are about £28 each https://www.z-power.co.uk/carb-t-piece-nipple-z1-...

Re: Z900A4 Black plugs
Hack, the amount of excess / un-necessary fuel you have used over the last 18 years could have bought you a colourtune. Currently around the £40 mark. If you get rich readings at idle speed with the colourtune and cant dial it out by the time you reach 2,000RPM using the air / fuel screws, you like...

Re: Z900A4 Black plugs
I have this same issue on my Z900A4. Has always been like it for the 18 years Iv'e owned it: plugs are blackened but never enough to foul up and cause an issue, does bother me though. I thought I'd read that the recommendation was to switch to a hotter plug - NGK B7ES Just in the process of a rebuil...

Rear Sprocket Spacer Thickness
Hi, does anyone have a Z900 rear sprocket spacer to hand that they could accurately measure the thickness for me? Part no. 92026-108 I always thought they were 1.5mm but when I measure the difference between a plain front sprocket and one with an offset the difference is less than that. Many thanks,...

BT46 or Roadrider mkii
Sorry for a subject covered many times before. On my standard Z900A4 I've previously used Bridgestone BT45. It had metric tyres when got it but the last couple of changes I went for the imperial sizes as I think the profile looks better (3.25 x 19 & 4.00 x 18) New tyres time, as always due to ag...

Re: 630 O-ring Chain Not Worn But Very Stiff
The chain wax can gum up the rollers etc if stood a long time. Give it a good solvent wash to free it up. Blow out with compressed air and re-lube. I thought we were supposed to avoid getting solvents on the o-rings. That said, the carrier for the chain wax evaporates very quickly so must be solven...
