Re: Z650 mods

Early 650s with single row camchains will need the crankcase mouths opening up to allow the liners to go in. If the bottom end has a hyvo cam chain, then no bother putting 750 barrels on. I think yours will be a single row cam chain if it's a 78 model. As far as heads go, the later 750 heads did awa...

Re: Removing the engine Z650

If the frame is in good order and you are removing the engine to do repairs this is a good idea. If you are removing to refinish the frame I would lift the engine out of the righthand side of the frame with the wheels on . Re-fitting the engine with it on its side is a really good idea if you want t...

Lucky lads, I'm still at work fixing pushbikes. Busiest we have been all winter as people off work want to exercise or commute.

Re: Z650 Special...not for the purist.

I have used GPZ750 Unitrack cams on a couple of 650's with good results. You can keep a decent tick over speed. The Unitrack cams give 1mm more lift than standard. You cam also run Unitrack inlet cam with a Zephyr750 exhaust cam.

Re: Introduction of me

Welcome Mark, I have had a few Kawasakis, currently have a B3 in B1 livery and a modified Zephyr 750 top end on 650 cases. I find Z Power good to use and plenty of used stuff on ebay.

Re: Z1a BHP

Guy that dynoed my 650/810 told me to get at least a 1000 miles on the engine before giving it a hard time. He did some basic jetting to get it running ok to run engine in. Did your guy deliberately keep the revs down because it's been rebuilt or did it not want to go over 7000.

Re: Kz650

Echoing what Warren has said. Things wear out or get damaged. Your frame number is B1 and they did have internal wires through the handlebars. Can you see if the switches have been cut to allow the wires to go below the bars on the outside. I had some switches where that had been done. Handlebars of...

Hi. It's a Z650B1, engine number is within range of the frame number which is good.

Try Agbrigg Chrome in Leeds or Quality Chrome Plating in Hull.

Agbrigg did this for me last week.

Re: Front mudguard

Every now and again a dent can be pushed out on chrome parts. The last two mudguards I restored, I had them dechromed, then took them home and repaired the dent myself. I used to be a panel beater which helps. Then had the chrome redone.
